“My sister was subjected to magic… and she does not need to create a trend.”

Israa, the sister of Egyptian broadcaster Alaa Abdel Aziz, commented on the crisis surrounding her sister after she took off the hijab and completely changed her appearance and behavior. She says that she lives with two personalities today, and that she is a victim of what she described as “black magic.”
Israa Abdel Aziz said, in television statements on one of the Egyptian channels, that Alaa is a well-known broadcaster and does not need to act or create a “trend,” stressing that she is going through a major disaster and needs urgent treatment..
She added: “Alaa is a victim. She was subjected to black magic from one of our relatives who hates us, and this magic is constantly renewed for her.”
She continued: “Alaa is in big trouble and we must stand by her, and I hope people do not describe her as acting or creating a trend.”

Schizophrenia!

It is noteworthy that Alaa had posted on her Facebook account: a confession in which she said: “Guys, I want to confess to you a need.. I am seriously ill.. I have a case of schizophrenia and a relapse of a manic episode.. This is not me now, I am Alaa Abdel Aziz who is talking to you. This second personality is not me.. I don’t understand anything and I have to get treatment.. This personality is destroying me.”

Psychological analysis of Alaa Abdel Aziz’s behavior

The psychologist and executive director of the “Friends of Mental Health Promotion” group, Faisal Al-Ajyan, commenting on the Egyptian broadcaster Alaa Abdel Aziz’s announcement that she suffers from “schizophrenia,” said that it is rare for a schizophrenic patient to realize that he has the disease and announce it in this way.

Alaa Abdel Aziz and the “hysterical personality”

Al-Ajyan added that it is difficult to judge Alaa Abdulaziz’s condition based on the video clips that she published, noting that her statements indicate the possibility of her having a psychological disorder, but he ruled out that she suffers from “schizophrenia.” Pointing out that patients with schizophrenia are often unaware of the nature of their illness, which makes Alaa’s diagnosis of herself with schizophrenia inaccurate.
Al-Ajyan suggested that Alaa suffers from histrionic personality disorder, which is characterized by display and exaggeration in the expression of emotions, and this advertisement may be merely a way to attract attention and exploit the disease to gain fame.
He added that this condition may be associated with bipolar disorder, where the patient oscillates between bouts of depression and mania, or she suffers from dissociative personality disorder, which is a type of hysterical disorder that appears as a result of exposure to severe psychological pressure.
