Google Maps will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America after Trump’s decree

Under the influence of the decrees signed by US President Donald Trump recently, Google intends to modify the name of the Gulf of Mexico on its service to the maps in the United States to become the “Gulf of America”, while Denali, the highest peak in North America, will be renamed with “Mount McKinley Mountain”.
“We are usually implemented by the names of the names after updating them by official government sources,” said a Google spokesman on Monday.
The giant technology group indicated that the names changes are compatible with the geographical features included in the American Geographical Names Information System (GNIS).
Google explained that users outside the United States will continue to see the original name and the new name, as is the case with the disputed sites.
The new names come in the wake of the executive orders signed by President Donald Trump since his return to power.
During his inauguration speech on January 20, the Republican President said he wanted to return to Denali, the highest summit in North America and is located in Alaska (6190 meters), whose previous name is Mount McKinley, after President Barack Obama changed it in 2015 at the desirability of the indigenous people.
This step has sparked criticism by the American indigenous groups in Alaska, who are calling for the retention of Denali.
As for the Gulf of Mexico, which is located on the borders of Mexico, the United States and Cuba, Trump described it as an “irreplaceable part of America”, hours after his return to the White House.
Trump considers this Gulf to be necessary to produce oil and fisheries in the United States, and describes it as “the favorite of the Americans for tourism and entertainment.”
Soon this name began to be used by the American Coast Guard in a statement, and from the governor of Florida Republican state, Ron Desantis, whose mandate bordered this water surface.
The new name raised diplomatic concerns with Mexico and other parties.
In response to Donald Trump, Mexican President Claudia Xinbom has proposed the United States to name “Mexican America”, referring to a seventeenth -century map showing a large part of the North American region with this name.
