His Highness toured the corridors of the “Education Museum in Sharjah”, familiar with the classes that were included in the Qasimiya School, which was studying grades from the first to the fifth, and its highness previously studied, and the school also includes a class for females.
His Highness got acquainted with the contents of the museum, as its chapters include a group of exhibitions, including the emergence of the Qasimiya School, which dates back to the early 1940s, which was known as the Al-Islah Al-Qasimia School at that time, and in the academic year 1950-1951 whose name was changed to Al-Qasimia School in relation to the Al-Qawasim family, The stages of the development of education in Sharjah between the years 1951-1956, the education of females that developed and expanded from the Qasimiya School, learning tools from books and curricula at the time, and the learning room that provides educational workshops.
In the stables of the Sharjah Fort for the horses adjacent to the fortress, which was constructed in its basic location, a group of Arab horses made a presentation witnessed by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the attendees that included several exhibition paragraphs and the presentations of the camels.

His Highness then moved to the Sharjah Fort to unveil the memorial plate to the centenary of the Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi Library, marking the launch of centenary celebrations for a whole year, and His Highness also launched the Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi Library on the ground floor of the Sharjah Fort.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah toured throughout the fortress of Sharjah, familiar with His Highness the holdings of Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, his uniform and a group of his photos, in addition to historical exhibits that document the history of the fortress and its role in the march “Hano” aircraft to Sharjah in 1932, a documentary film produced in 1937 for the imperial Airlines in that period, highlighting a day at Sharjah Airport, and documents the arrival of the first plane to the land of Sharjah Airport on October 5, 1932.
His Highness continued a theatrical performance entitled “The Mortgage Dagger” presented by a group of American University students in Sharjah, which evokes the story of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, in his youth stage, which His Highness documented in the novel “Al -Khanjar Al -Marhoun”, where the play released the story of His Highness with the book Starting with the library of his uncle Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi and his attachment to its contents and reading, to increase his attachment and love for the book, which made him pledged his golden dagger to borrow money and acquire books to establish his own library.
The organization of Sharjah libraries for the “Sharjah Libraries Centenary” celebration comes in cooperation with a number of bodies and institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah, which is the initiative implementation authority “Initiative”, the Sharjah Heritage Institute, the Sharjah Museums Authority, the American University in Sharjah, the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, the Sharjah Equestrian Club And the race, Sharjah Special Education Authority, and the General Command of Sharjah Police.
To celebrate the hundred years since its establishment, “Sharjah Libraries” prepared a program full of various events and activities, which will continue throughout 2025, with the participation of more than 13 government agencies. The program includes seminars, interactive exhibitions, “writers under the light”, and workshops targeting all groups of society And among the four main axes: literary beginnings, which highlight the foundations of Sharjah’s cultural renaissance and cultural civilization, during which several cultural and knowledge workshops are held linked to the world of public libraries.
As for the axis of the prospects of writers and poets, it represents a tribute to the legacy of the first founders who formed the first building block of the literary and poetic scene in the Emirate of Sharjah, along with the axis of cultural sustainability, which highlights the values and cultural practices that characterize the Sharjah community.
Sharjah Public Library was established in 1925 by Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah at the time, under the name “Al Qasimia Library” in the Sharjah fort. After the death of the founder, the library moved to Sheikh Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi in 1951, and remained in the fort until 1956, when it was transferred to the “host” building in Al -Hosn Square, which combined administrative and office jobs. Later, during the era of Sheikh Khalid bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the library continued to develop before moving to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who worked to enhance its role and position in the community of Sharjah.
In 1980, the library was transferred to the upper floor of the African Hall, under the name “Sharjah Library”, then moved in 1987 to the building of the Cultural Center in Sharjah. In 1998, the library was transferred to the university city, where it continued to provide its advanced services. The library witnessed a qualitative shift in 2011 by opening its modern building in the field of culture.
Today, the library includes branches in Kalba, Dibba Al -Hosn, Khor Fakkan, Al Dhaid and Wadi El Helou, equipped with the latest technologies and services that meet the needs of various groups of society, and throughout its history, the library played a pioneering role in spreading knowledge and promoting a culture of reading, which makes it one of the prominent landmarks in Sharjah’s cultural and development march.
