UN Commission reduces spending after the suspension of American humanitarian aid

The United Nations Refugees, asylum seekers, and forcibly displaced people in their countries began a campaign to reduce spending, after US President Donald Trump ordered the suspension of humanitarian aid.
“While we still evaluate the impact of the decision of the new US administration, including potential exceptions, we are implementing a series of temporary precautionary measures to alleviate the effects of uncertainty about financing,” said a spokeswoman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
The British Guardian newspaper said earlier that the President of the Commission Filippo Grande sent an email, in which he instructed employees to temporarily stop employment and international travel.
Grande also suspended new supply orders except when they are needed for emergency help, according to the newspaper.
UNHCR refused to comment on the email.
