New threats to Panama .. Will America move militarily to control the channel?
“The current situation is unacceptable and that if there are no immediate changes, it will require the United States to take the necessary measures to protect its rights under the treaty,” said Rubio, upon his meeting with President Jose Raul Molino.

Rubio Mulino said that President Donald Trump “took a preliminary decision that the current situation is related to the influence of the Chinese Communist Party and its control over the Panama Canal region is a threat to the channel and a violation of the treaty related to permanent neutrality and the operation of the Panama channel.”
Trump did not rule out the use of military force to seize the channel, while the Panamanian president announced that he did not see any serious threat to the United States militarily on the Panama Channel.

“I do not feel that there is any real threat at the present time against the treaty or its validity, not even by using the military force to seize the channel.”
Mulino suggested that “technical” talks to address the US concerns connected to the channel.
He added in a statement to reporters after his meeting with “Rubio” that “a technical team can discuss the issue with the United States and clarify any doubts that they may have,” he added in a statement to reporters.
