The Kremlin refuses to confirm or deny a communication between Putin and Trump

On Sunday, the Kremlin refused to confirm or deny an American report on a telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
Washington and Moscow have not officially confirmed any contact between the two presidents since Trump took power, and pledged to put a quick end to fight in Ukraine.

Multiple connections

“The New York Post” said late on Saturday, that Trump reported that he had spoke to Putin to discuss an end to the conflict in Ukraine, while the Russian president told him that he “wants to see an end to the killing.”
The newspaper quoted Trump as saying that he prefers not to disclose the number of times the two presidents spoke.
The Kremlin spokesman, Demiri Beskov, said in statements made to the official “TASS”, that he could not confirm or deny that the talks took place, but indicated that he had no knowledge of this type.

He added: “What can I say about this news? At the time of the administration’s expansion in Washington, multiple contacts appear, and these communications are made through various channels.”
He continued: “Given these many contacts, I cannot personally know anything, so in this case I cannot confirm or deny the matter.”

A possible meeting between Trump and Putin

Bescov has previously denied several reports of contacts between Trump and Putin before the US president returned to power.
The Kremlin reported that he is waiting for signs of a possible meeting between Trump and Putin, and that any party in the new Trump administration did not communicate with him to arrange this.
