المملكة: “Ry without waste” .. modern techniques that provide 90% of water in agriculture
Muhammad Al -Hussein, of the General Irrigation Corporation, stressed that the initiative focuses on educating farmers about the importance of adopting modern technologies for irrigation, and providing them with the necessary support for their application in their farms.
To achieve this end, the Foundation has established five model farms, four of which are in the eastern region, “Gliple, Suwaidra, Al -Manakh, Al -Qatif” and a farm in the central region “Al -Aflaj”, which is considered as live training centers for farmers to implement the latest agricultural technologies in the field of irrigation, including agriculture Water, water biotechnology, and vertical agriculture with a closed system.
Agricultural Forum in Al -Ahsa
Al -Hussein indicated during his participation in the Agricultural Forum in Al -Ahsa, which is organized by the National Center for Palm and Dates in Al -Ahsa that these model farms seek to provide opportunities for farmers to see these modern systems and their application in their own farms, as these technologies achieve significant water savings of up to 90% , Which contributes to preserving this vital resource for future generations.
He told “Today” that these typical farms apply a variety of modern irrigation technologies, including: Water Agriculture: It is a modern agricultural technique that relies on the use of water as a solution feeding for plant roots without the need for soil, which greatly reduces water loss, agriculture Aquaculture: It is a technique that combines aquatic agriculture and water biology, where fish waste is used to feed plants, which increases the efficiency of resource use, vertical agriculture with a closed system: It is a technique that depends on planting plants in closed vertical layers, which reduces water loss and exposure For pests and diseases.
The General Organization for Irrigation
Al -Hussein added: The modern irrigation systems adopted by the General Irrigation Corporation include a variety of technologies, starting with various aquatic agriculture systems “such as the TCS PC system, the ANFT system, the butterfly system, and the floating system” that are used in greenhouses and reserves, up to systems Modern irrigation that is used in open spaces such as healthy irrigation, health irrigation, drip irrigation, and irrigation with savings.
He called on all farmers to visit these model farms and see the latest agricultural technologies in the field of irrigation, and to benefit from them in developing their own farms, in order to serve efforts to rationalize water consumption and achieve sustainable agricultural development.
