For the second month in a row, the Organization of Oil Exporting Countries (OPEC) expected the demand for oil demand in 2025 and 2026, especially driven by transport and increased air traffic.
According to the report of the Group of Oil Countries, which reviews OPEC at monthly, according to the situation published today, Wednesday, the world will consume 105.1 million barrels per day in 2025 compared to 103.75 million barrels per day in 2024.
OPEC expected consumption to rise throughout 2025, reaching 104.2 million barrels per day in the first quarter of this year.
It was estimated that global consumption would reach 106.6 million barrels per day in 2026.
The growth growth is driven by transportation
OPEC indicated that demand growth will be driven by transportation, with a large demand for air transport and a noticeable increased in land transport.
The organization added that the demand will also depend on the “industrial, agricultural and construction sectors”.
This increase is particularly recorded in non -member countries of the Organization for Cooperation and Development in the economic field, whose request is expected to increase by 1.3 million barrels per day, especially China, India, the Middle East and Latin America.
0.1 million barrels per day
The countries of the Organization for Cooperation and Development in the economic field account for a small share of this increase, estimated at only 0.1 million barrels per day.
In early February, the OPEC Plus alliance announced that it would maintain the schedule of increasing the production of countries in it, gradually from April.
The current plan requires a first batch of 2.2 million barrels per day in the market gradually from April, at an average of 120 thousand additional barrels per day every month for 18 months.
