المملكة: Inauguration of the sustainable ihram initiative in the Biennial of Islamic Arts

The Fashion Authority launched its latest sustainable “sustainable ihram” initiative as part of a press conference in the Biennial of Islamic Arts today, a sustainable initiative that revolves around recycling of Ihram’s uniform to produce a sustainable ihraam that was manufactured by collecting and sorting textile waste for pilgrims.
The authority launches the initiative in cooperation with several companies in the sustainable initiative that focuses on recycling ihram clothes and converting them into new sustainable Ihram clothes. This process creates new and sustainable ihram clothes, highlighting the feasibility of recycling textiles in the fashion industry.

Partnerships contribute to achieving the Kingdom’s sustainable goals and opening new horizons in the field of fashion recycling, as the initiative is in line with the goals of protecting the environment in the Kingdom’s 2030 vision and represents an important step towards a more sustainable environmental system in the Kingdom.

It aims to enhance sustainable practices, increase consumer awareness of fashion recycling, and support the development of sustainable textile economics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The CEO of the Fashion Authority, Burak Shimakk, said: “The Sustainable Ihram initiative clarifies our commitment to innovation in sustainable practices, honoring the cultural and spiritual importance of ihram while protecting our planet for future generations, as it contributes to enhancing environmental sustainability, recycling large quantities of unused ihram, and promoting sustainable practices within Fashion sector.
He stressed that the Fashion Authority is committed to enhancing the vibrant and sustainable fashion industry in the Kingdom in line with the standards of global sustainability, enhancing conscious consumption and recycling.
