The Canadian Chamber of Sharjah and Consulate are looking to enhance economic partnership

Sharjah, August 5/ WAM/ The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed with the Consulate General of Canada in Dubai, ways to enhance economic cooperation, develop trade and investment relations, and develop a joint action plan to explore qualitative investment opportunities that support business community in the emirate and Canada.

This came during the reception of His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al -Owais, Chairman of the Chamber of the Chamber, to His Excellency Anthony Vinci, Deputy Consul General and Chief Commercial Commissioner at the Canadian Consulate in Dubai, in the presence of a number of officials of both sides.

The two sides discussed institutional mechanisms to enhance cooperation, which included the exchange of participation in economic exhibitions and events, and a proposal to sign memoranda of understanding between the Chamber and their counterparts in Canada, with the aim of supporting small and medium -sized companies and opening channels for cooperation between the two private sectors in the two countries.

The meeting highlighted the emirate’s strategy to attract qualitative investments in the sectors of the knowledge economy, such as artificial intelligence, health care and education, as well as praising the role of Canadian companies operating in the emirate and their contributions in supporting the local economy.

Al -Owais affirmed the Chamber’s keenness to upgrade bilateral relations between the UAE and Canada to new levels of strategic partnership, praising the role of the UAE Canadian Business Council in enhancing foreign investments and providing the necessary support for small and medium enterprises in the two countries.

The Canadian delegation expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the Sharjah Chamber to enhance bilateral relations, stressing that the emirate is an attractive destination for Canadian investments, because of its advanced business environment, advanced infrastructure and a strategic location.

The Chamber reviewed the upcoming events agenda of the Sharjah Expo Center, as part of its endeavor to expand the horizons of cooperation with Canadian partners, and the meeting concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing coordination and joint work to translate visions into practical initiatives that support the aspirations of business community in the two countries.
