Consumer price inflation in Spain increased less than expected in January, but it remained at the highest level over the past seven months.
According to final data issued by the Spanish Statistics Office today, Friday, it rose from 2.8 % in December, to 2.9 % January.

Inflation in Spain
Transportation prices increased by 1.3 % due to the increase in fuel prices.
Housing prices increased by 7.9 % due to the high electricity prices.
Inflation numbers in Spain
The basic inflation reached 2.4 %, with the exception of non -manufactured food and energy, a decrease of 2.6 % in the previous month.
The consistent inflation in the European Union also increased to the maximum level over a period of six months, reaching 2.9 %, an increase of 2.8 %, identical to the initial estimates.
