المملكة: At a UN meeting .. the Kingdom renews the demand for the reform of the Security Council

On behalf of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Walid bin Abdul Karim Al -Khuraiji participated today, at a high -level meeting of the Security Council under the title “Implementation of Pluralism and Reforming Global Governance”.
The graduate delivered a speech, in which he stressed the need to move towards enhancing the ability of the international system to preserve international peace and security, according to what is stipulated in the United Nations Charter.

He said: “The increasing challenges faced by the international community and the current bloody events require the maximum effectiveness in dealing and responding by the multiple system, led by the Security Council, which has to interact with impartiality and objectivity with all issues according to the state assigned to it.”
He added: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirms the need to combine the effectiveness factor on the one hand, and the factor of pluralism and the safety of acting on the other hand in any serious effort to reform and complete global governance.”

The Kingdom emphasized the importance of international government negotiations on the reform of the multiple system, noting that it should be through the General Assembly, in accordance with the General Assembly Resolution 62/557, which was approved by the consensus of opinions.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed to the growth in the crisis of confidence in the ability of the United Nations and its bodies, especially the Security Council, and to carry out its responsibilities in preserving international peace and security and resolving disputes by peaceful means.
He also renewed the Kingdom’s call to reform the Security Council to be more fair in representing the current reality, and to be more effective in keeping pace with the transformations and developments of the international community, and more efficient in addressing its common challenges, and said: “The Kingdom is ready to cooperate with the rest of the member states in order to achieve this The noble goal. “
