The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has started implementing a project to upgrade the optical signal control system to the new generation (UTC-ing Fusion), which depends on artificial intelligence technologies, predictive analysis, and digital twinning. The new system will be applied in all the main traffic intersections at the level of Dubai, and the project is expected to be completed by the first half of 2026.

The authority confirms its continued efforts in adopting and employing the latest smart technologies and applying international best practices in managing traffic intersections, in line with the Dubai strategy to turn into a smart and sustainable city, achieve the highest levels of efficiency in the road network, and the traffic management in the emirate.

In the same context, Hussein Al -Banna, Executive Director of the Traffic and Roads Corporation at the Roads and Transport Authority said: “The project serves the authority’s vision in global leadership for easy and sustainable movement, by improving the trip time and reducing traffic congestion at intersections by 10% and 20%, which strengthens The transportation experience for all road users, whether vehicle owners, public transportation users, pedestrians, and bike owners, with traffic priority grants For some groups such as emergency vehicles and public transport. “

Al -Banna added: “The developed system of traffic lights has many characteristics, namely: prediction of future traffic movement to improve the timing of signals in a dynamic way in preparation for the expected traffic movement, which will enhance efficiency in the traffic network management, and the digital twin Before actually implementing it, setting the priorities of transit, as well as taking advantage of data Future road sensors to efficiently adjust the timing of signals. “
