Trump suspends targeting of energy facilities in Iran until April 6

US President Donald Trump announced a suspension of the destruction of Iranian power plants for 10 days.
Trump said, in a tweet on his account on the “Truth Social” platform: “At the request of the Iranian government, please consider this statement an announcement that I am suspending operations to destroy energy facilities for 10 days, until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 p.m. EST.”
Regarding the talks, Trump said, “The talks are continuing and going very well,” despite “the false statements promoted by the fake media and others.”
While he and senior officials discussed the war with Iran in depth during the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Trump said that the responsibility lies with Iran to sit at the negotiating table and end the fighting, according to the American CNN network.
He added that he “is not interested in reaching an agreement with Iran because the United States is ready to continue military operations.”
Trump urged Iran to completely abandon its nuclear ambitions, saying they now have an opportunity to “chart a new path forward.” He declined to say whether the United States would move to secure uranium in Iran, describing the question as “ridiculous.”
The US President indicated that controlling Iranian oil supplies is “an option,” adding that “a solution in Iran may resemble a solution in Venezuela.”
He downplayed the rise in gas prices and the effects of the war on the stock market, saying they were “not as severe as I thought.”
