Archive and National Library: More than a million documents from Ras Al Khaimah courts for memorization and restoration

Abu Dhabi, March 2 / WAM / The archive and the National Library received one million documents ancient transaction from the Ras Al Khaimah Courts Department, which transferred it to conservation and restoration from June 2024 to January 2025, which included certificate documents, marriage and divorce contracts, civil and legal implementation, and the matter on a petition, agencies, declarations and contracts documented by the justice writer.
His Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the Archives and the National Library, said that the project of cooperation with the courts of Ras Al Khaimah comes within the largest partnership projects that rose to the degree of integration between the archive, the national library and government institutions in the country; This is in light of the provisions of Federal Law No. 7 of 2008 regarding the archive, the national library and its executive regulations.
He added that this commitment to the provisions of the law, and cooperation ensures the preservation of the great historical value of these documents by preserving them for the longest possible period in a national authority with global experience specializing in this field, and the project also supports the criterion of integration between government institutions, which is an essential pillar in the Emirati government excellence system in its last issuance 2024, which focuses on outputs, results, partnership and integration.
For his part, His Excellency Counselor Ahmed Mohamed Al -Khatri, head of the Ras Al Khaimah Courts Department, said that this project comes to ensure the preservation of paper files for the transactions of the old and rare Ras Al Khaimah Courts Department with high quality, and the possibility of summoning them easily, and ensuring the restoration of the damaged part in part in a specialized institution with a global reputation such as the archive and the national library away from the risks.
He added that what this project achieves economically contributes to achieving the vision of the Ras Al Khaimah government 2030, and this project supports business continuity policy and reducing the risk of keeping a huge amount of paper documents in unqualified places, which exposes it to damage or loss.
Dr. Hamad Al -Mutairi, Director of Archive Department of the Archives and the National Library, confirmed that it was agreed between the two sides to implement a project to transfer 100% of the old paper files in the Ras Al Khaimah Courts Department to the Archive and the National Library, which number approximately 1,407,818 ancient paper transactions dating back to before 2020.
Dr. Hazza Al -Naqbi, head of the government archive, said that the archive and the national library have a special mechanism to summon and borrow these files; Stressing that 70.3% of the total number of old files, planned to be converted into archive stores and the National Library, has been completed.
Mohamed Hussein Fahmy, project manager and institutional development consultant at Ras Al Khaimah Courts, said that 7,628 funds contain 989,273 transactions that have been transferred to the archive and the National Library on 33 trips.
