Closing of competitions "Shotguns for amateurs and women" Within the 14th shooting championship

ABU DHABI, 19 JANUARY / WAM / The competitions of the “Trap” Shotgun Championship for the amateur and women’s categories were concluded yesterday, which was held within the activities of the fourteenth edition of the annual shooting championship at the Al Reef Shooting Club in Abu Dhabi, and its competitions will continue until next February 4, amid record participation and high technical levels.

The amateur category competitions resulted in Indian shooter Ravi Mahul Singh winning first place, while Emirati shooter Ahmed Ali Al Nuaimi came in second, and Emirati shooter Thabet Mohammed Al Qaidi came in third place, in competitions that were decided after resorting to a tie-breaker after the competitors were equal in number of points.

In the women’s category, Emirati shooter Fatima Al Shibli was crowned champion, while Indian shooter Sarnaha Dev took second place, and Emirati shooter Aisha Mohammed Al Yasi came in third.

The participation of the amateur and women’s categories in the General Shooting Championship, for the first time, represented a milestone in the course of the current edition, as it contributed to expanding the participant base and enhancing the female presence.

His Excellency Hassan Yousef Al-Nuaimi, Chairman of the Shotgun Committee at Al-Reef Shooting Club, said that including the shotgun championship within the General Shooting Championship is a strategic step aimed at developing the championship, opening the way for a wider segment of practitioners, and discovering new talents capable of supplementing competitions in the future, indicating that there are future plans to include additional competitions, including the “Skeet” competition, in addition to developing the “Trap” shooting competitions during the next stage.

For his part, Indian shooter Ravi Singh, who won first place, expressed his great happiness with this achievement, stressing that the competition was at a high technical level from the first rounds, and that participating in a tournament the size of the annual shooting tournament is an exceptional experience for any amateur.

In turn, shooter Ahmed Al Nuaimi, who ranked second, said that providing the opportunity for amateurs to participate in the general tournament is an important step, because it gives them confidence and motivation to continue and develop, and opens the way for them to interact and gain experience.

For her part, shooter Fatima Al-Shibli, who won first place in the women’s category, expressed her pride in this achievement, stressing that participation in the general shooting championship represents an important message to every girl interested in this sport.

For its part, the organizing committee confirmed that the amateur and women’s shooting championship represents a qualitative addition to the program of the fourteenth edition of the annual shooting championship, and constitutes an important base to build upon in future editions, thus contributing to the discovery and refinement of talent, and enhancing the sustainability of the tournament until the conclusion of its competitions.
