المملكة: After a field visit, the environment raises the ban on the import of sheep from Romania

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture lifted the temporary ban that was imposed on importing sheep “sheep and goats” from the Republic of Romania, and this decision came after verifying the integrity of the measures taken by the Romanian government to control the spread of the plague disease.
The Ministry of Commerce announced this decision, stressing that it comes in implementation of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture’s decision.

Comprehensive evaluation

The Ministry of Environment had dispatched a specialized technical team to Romania to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the epidemic health status of the plague of the small periods, and to find out the preventive measures taken by the Romanian authorities to ensure the safety of their exports of livestock.
The results of the field visit to the technical team, Salama and the effectiveness of the Roman procedures applied to control the disease, which prompted the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture to issue its decision to lift the ban.
The Ministry of Commerce was informed of the decision, which in turn announced and circulated to the relevant authorities, including the Chamber of the Saudi Chambers Union.

Health risks

This decision comes within the framework of the Kingdom’s keenness to ensure the safety of animal imports, and to enhance trade relations with friendly countries, while emphasizing the role of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture as an authentic jurisdiction in assessing health risks and making decisions related to import.
The Kingdom imports livestock from outside the Kingdom in support of the local market and to preserve the stability of prices through its outlets, based on the results of the examination that prove the safety and health of the sheep received.
Also, all the quarrying measures contained in the “Law” of the veterinary stone of the Gulf Cooperation Council states in the Arab Gulf states and its executive regulations in the Kingdom are applied, and in light of them the missionaries are given.
