CEO of e& Group: The acceleration of global digital transformation enhances digital sovereignty

Dubai, 5 February / WAM / Hatem Dowidar, CEO of e& Group, confirmed that the global digital economy is witnessing rapid transformations led by the concepts of digital sovereignty, the development of advanced communications technologies, and the expansion of the uses of artificial intelligence, reshaping the future of labor markets and knowledge economies globally.
Dowidar pointed out, during his participation in a key session within the work of the World Government Summit entitled “The Digital Future, Who Creates It?” Interviewed by CNN’s Becky Anderson, he noted that many countries in the region have succeeded over the past years in building a balanced model for managing data sovereignty, by specifying the data that must remain within the country for regulatory and sovereign reasons, in addition to identifying sectors that require local infrastructure within the country, versus services that can be operated via the public or open cloud.
He stated that this model is still in the process of being formed in many countries of the world, in light of the acceleration of digital transformations and the expanding reliance on cloud computing and applications based on artificial intelligence.
He stressed that the next stage will witness rapid development in communications technologies, especially with the trend towards developing sixth generation 6G technologies, which will constitute a qualitative leap in the speed of data transfer and communication efficiency, in addition to enhancing the integration of digital services with vital sectors such as industry, energy, smart cities, and advanced digital economies.
He pointed out that the telecommunications sector is witnessing a strategic transformation from a provider of communication services to integrated digital systems that provide digital financial solutions, digital government services, and technological platforms that support various economic sectors, pointing out that the concept of digital inclusion is no longer limited to connecting individuals to the Internet, but rather extends to integrating them into the digital economy through digital financial services, especially for unbanked groups.
The CEO of e& Group explained that the impact of artificial intelligence will be greater in knowledge economies compared to emerging economies, due to their heavy reliance on cognitive functions, pointing out that artificial intelligence holds great economic opportunities, but requires careful management of the transformation phase, especially with regard to preserving jobs and rehabilitating human cadres.
He stressed that the basic skill of the new generation in the labor market will be the ability to use artificial intelligence tools efficiently, pointing out that many operations that used to require large work teams for weeks can now be completed within short periods of time using advanced artificial intelligence tools.
Dowidar pointed out that the coming years will witness an expansion in digital financial inclusion globally, especially in countries of the Global South, in addition to the acceleration of the transformation of telecommunications companies into integrated digital economic platforms, and the increasing impact of artificial intelligence on cognitive functions during the next decade.
