We will soon sign a rare metal deal with Ukraine
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the United States is close to signing an agreement with Ukraine to obtain rare ground minerals.
“We make good progress regarding Ukraine and Russia, and one of the things we do is to sign an agreement very soon on rare ground minerals with Ukraine,” Trump added in the White House statements.
Trump explained that the United States signs agreements “in different locations to extract rare ground minerals and other resources all over the world.”

Economic and strategic importance
Kiev was looking at the deal for rare ground minerals, which was under negotiation for several weeks, as a strategic partnership that could ensure continued American support against the Russian invasion.
Trump, who returned to the White House last January, linked US aid to Ukraine with access to rare ground mineral reserves in the country.
These deposits are of economic and strategic importance.
Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski and Trump were expected to sign the agreement in late February.
However, a sharp debate between the two parties in the Oval Office resulted in the cancellation of the talks, and Zellinski left the meeting early.
