Sheikh Zayed Book Award announces the names of the winners and cultural personality in its 19th session

Abu Dhabi, April 8/ WAM/ Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award at the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi announced the names of the winners and cultural personalities in its 19th session, after the award board meeting, which discussed the final results, and reviewed the justifications for the victory of each candidate, after a review process conducted by the arbitration committees And the scientific body in accordance with the highest criteria for the literary and cultural accurate evaluation followed by the award.

The 19 -year -old winner of 7 winners, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Iraq, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

The meeting of the Board of Trustees, His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, was attended by the members, His Excellency Dr. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to His Highness the President of the State, His Excellency Muhammad Khalifa Al -Mubarak, Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Saud Abdulaziz Al -Hosani, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language, Secretary -General of the Sheikh Zayed Award For the book, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of Archive and the National Library, and Abdel Rahman Al -Naqbi, Director of the Literary Awards Department at the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center.

His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak said that the Sheikh Zayed Book Award establishes the position of the UAE as a global center for creativity and knowledge, because of its supportive platform for knowledge production and stimulating the cultural movement, scientific research and authorship, in line with the vision of the wise leadership that believes that culture and knowledge are two main pillars for sustainable development, the award today continues its career not only in honoring the creators from around the world In providing continuous support for innovation and new ideas, a reflection of the UAE’s commitment to enhancing culture among all members of society.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim congratulated the winners of the 19th session of the award, appreciating their distinguished achievements that influenced the Arab and international cultural scene, and the readers will be inspired by the subjects and new and new ideas it dealt with, including what deepened in the human spirit, and some of which highlighted history and time, starred and was appreciated by the awarders.

The Japanese international writer Haruki Murakami also congratulated his victory in the cultural personality of the year, who deserved to win the title about his entire literary works that are characterized by a special nature, and because of his literature and writings a wide impact that exceeded the borders of Japan and reached the world with passion, and his choice for this year confirms the prize’s keenness to extend the bridges of dialogue, literature and thought between different cultures and civilizations, and its commitment to honoring creators from all over the world, To consolidate its pioneering role in supplying the international cultural scene.

Hoda Barakat, the Lebanese writer Hoda Barakat, won the award for “Hind or the most beautiful woman in the world”, and Moroccan writer Latifa Lamir won the Children’s Literature Branch Award for her book “Taif Sibba”.

While the Italian translation branch was won by the Italian translation branch, Marco de Branco, for the book “Harushiush” by Paul Harushiush, which he transferred from Arabic to English.

As for the winner of the Award for the Arts and Critical Studies Award, he is the Moroccan researcher, Dr. Saeed Al -Awadi, for his book “Food and Speech: Cultural Vocal Fellowers in Arab Heritage.”

He won the Award for the Development and State Building Branch, Prof. Emirati Dr. Mohamed Bishary from his book “The Right to Land and Care: Corporation Approaches to Rights of Muslim Women.”

He won the Arab Culture Branch Award in other languages, British researcher Andrew Pikok for his book “Arab Literary Culture in Southeast Asia in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.”

The Iraqi -British researcher Rashid Al -Khayoun won the Award for the Verification of Manuscripts for achieving the book “Women’s News”.

The nineteenth session witnessed the coronation of the Japanese international writer Haruki Murakami with the Cultural Personality Award, in appreciation of his creative career, the extent of its influence and its transient literary impact on the borders on Arab and international culture, as his works are among the most reading and translation in the world, which reflects the ability of literature to bring different cultures.

It is noteworthy that the Sheikh Zayed Book Award will honor the winners of its current session on Monday, April 28, 2025, during a ceremony organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, in conjunction with the activities of the 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair at the Denik Abu Dhabi Center.

The percentage of participants in this session exceeded the 4000 nomination from 75 countries, distributed between 20 Arab countries and 55 foreign countries, with five participating countries registered for the first time, namely Albania, Bolivia, Colombia, Trinidad, Tobago, and Mali, which reflects the prestigious position that the award has on the international cultural scene.

The award is one of the most important independent literary and scientific awards, which contribute to supporting the cultural scene, enhancing the movement of publishing and translation, and honoring the creators, intellectuals and publishers for their achievements in the fields of authorship, research, writing and translation.

It plays a pivotal role in highlighting cultural diversity and providing bridges of communication between civilizations, based on its vision aimed at promoting dialogue and knowledge openness between peoples.
