The high number of deaths in the Australian state of Queensland due to the spread of bacteria as a result of floods

The Australian state of Queensland recorded a new death with “Melanosis”, bringing the number of deaths this year to 26 cases, with 10 new injuries to the past week. The mealosus is a tropical disease caused by bacteria that live in water and soil, and cases of infection increase after floods and heavy rains, where bacteria can enter the body through wounds, inhalation or drinking polluted water.
The Ministry of Health explained that the new cases were monitored in Townsville, Kerns, Makai and northwest of Queensland, noting that Townsville witnessed the highest rain rate in its history this year.
The health authorities called on the population, especially diabetes and lung disease, to avoid soil and contaminated water, and initiative to detect and early treatment with antibiotics.
