The United States demands the protection of civilians in South Sudan

The United States has expressed concern about the deterioration of the security situation in the Republic of South Sudan.
The Chargé d’Affairs of the permanent delegate called on the United States to the United Nations, Ambassador Dorothy Xia, all parties to adhere to its obligations under international humanitarian law, including those related to the protection of civilians.
In a speech before the Security Council on the situation in southern Sudan, she called on members of the Council to work to ensure the transitional government’s support for the United Nations mission in South Sudan.

Attacks

Today, Thursday, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expressed its condemnation and condemnation of the attacks on the camps of the displaced (Zamzam and Abu Shok) in the city of El Fasher in Sudan, which resulted in the death and injury of many people, in violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

The organization stressed its rejection of these violations, stressing the need to provide protection for workers in the field of relief and humanitarian, and the importance of stopping attacks and avoiding targeting civilians, and implementing obligations towards protecting civilians in Sudan.

She expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased, and her wishes for those with a speedy recovery.
