Traffic safety guidelines must be adhered to while driving during weather fluctuations

The Ministry of Interior stressed the importance of adhering to traffic safety guidelines to avoid accidents and ensure safe driving on the roads in light of the weather conditions that the United Arab Emirates is currently witnessing, which is accompanied by rainfall and weather fluctuations.

The Ministry explained that the first safety steps begin with reducing speed and adhering to the specified speeds, especially with the activation of variable speed systems on the roads, as wet roads reduce the grip of the tires with the road surface, which increases the possibility of slipping and losing control of the vehicle..

It also stressed the need to leave a sufficient safety distance between vehicles, greater than the usual distance in normal circumstances, to avoid sudden collisions, especially with the low level of visibility resulting from rain or the fog that accompanies it in some areas..

She called for ensuring that the vehicle is ready before setting off, including the safety of the tires and brakes, ensuring the efficiency of the windshield wipers, in addition to turning on the headlights to increase visibility for other drivers, even during daylight hours..

She stressed the importance of avoiding using a mobile phone while driving, and focusing fully on the road, while being careful of pools of water that may hide potholes or lead to the vehicle sliding, as well as avoiding driving in valleys and flood streams..

She pointed out the necessity of adhering to fixed speeds and avoiding sudden stops or changing lanes sharply, as this has a direct impact on the stability of the vehicle, especially on highways..

The Ministry stressed that traffic safety is a shared responsibility, requiring all drivers to adhere to laws and instructions, and to deal with weather conditions with caution, which contributes to reducing accidents and preserving lives and property..
