Ian Martin was appointed as head of UNRWA’s strategic evaluation

The Secretary -General, Mr. Martin, is charged with conducting the strategic evaluation to review the impact of UNRWA and implement its mandate in light of the current political, financial and security restrictions and other obstacles, consequences and risks for refugees Palestine.

Martin was also assigned to define work options by member states and/or the United Nations, and to consider the general international states issued by the General Assembly and the Security Council.

Ian Martin has a long experience with the United Nations, and he participated in a number of strategic reviews, the last of which was the head of the independent strategic review of the United Nations Mission in Somalia, and before that he was a member of a high -level independent committee on peace operations.

Martin held the position of Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Libya and other positions in field missions, including Timur- Lycti, Nepal, Eritrea, Rwanda and Haiti.
