The President of the Republic of East Timor praises the UAE’s support for development projects in Dili

The President of the Democratic Republic of East Timor, Dr. Jose Manuel Ramos-Horta, and the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia and the Democratic Republic of East Timor, Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, witnessed the foundation stone laying ceremony for the “Female Student Housing and Social Facilities” project in the capital, Dili, in the presence of the Executive Director of the Operations Sector at the Emirates Agency for International Aid, Rashid Salem Al Shamsi, and the Head of the Regional Cooperation Department at the Agency, Amira Al Ameri.

The project comes within the framework of development cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Democratic Republic of East Timor, and within the efforts of the Emirates International Aid Agency to support development projects with a sustainable impact, especially in the fields of education and community development, which contributes to improving the quality of life, empowering youth, and enhancing educational opportunities.

President José Manuel Ramos-Horta, in a speech he delivered on this occasion, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” praising the continued support that the UAE gives to development and humanitarian projects, including the female student housing project and social facilities in the city of Dili.

He stressed that the project reflects the depth of the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and embodies the common human values ​​and development vision adopted by both sides in supporting the education sector, empowering youth, and promoting sustainable social development.

The President of the Democratic Republic of East Timor said: “This vital project represents a symbol of the solid friendship between the UAE and the Republic of East Timor, and a model of constructive cooperation that serves the aspirations of the two friendly peoples towards a more prosperous and stable future.”

For his part, Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri expressed his thanks and appreciation to President Dr. Jose Manuel Ramos-Horta for his generous patronage and attendance at the launch ceremony of this important project, stressing that this initiative reflects the strength of bilateral relations and the common keenness to expand the horizons of cooperation in the development and humanitarian fields.

He pointed out that the shared vision of the leadership of the two friendly countries contributed to opening new horizons for partnership and cooperation, and launching qualitative initiatives and sustainable development projects that support economic and social plans, by employing the expertise and advanced capabilities of both sides in vital sectors including education, health and the environment.

Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri added: “The female student housing and social facilities project in Dili aims to provide an integrated educational and social environment that contributes to the preparation of qualified scientific competencies and national leaders capable of contributing to building the future and achieving sustainable development, in a way that reflects the humanitarian values ​​​​adopted by the UAE and the Republic of East Timor in serving humanity and enhancing the quality of life.”

The foundation stone laying ceremony concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields, in a way that supports development efforts and achieves the common interests of the two friendly peoples.
