المملكة: “Meteorology” organizes a workshop in Jeddah to discuss climatic effects in the Hajj season

The National Meteorological Center will organize a workshop entitled “The Climate Impact in the Hajj this year”, with the participation of government agencies and support for the work of the Hajj season, with the aim of raising readiness and enhancing coordination of planning and field work for the season.

The General Supervisor of the Hajj Center at the Center, Dr. Turki Habiballah, explained that the organization of the workshop comes within the early preparations for the Hajj season, and a sense of the center of the importance of exchanging climate information to support the operational, organizational and preventive plans of the working authorities.

Climate effects

He pointed out that the workshop will address the readiness of the center and its services provided during the season, and review the most prominent climatic effects on Makkah and Medina and the Holy Places, as well as discussing solutions and procedures that contribute to raising the efficiency of response to climate risks, in order to enhance the safety and security of the Rahman.

And Dr. Habib Allah indicated that this workshop comes as an extension of the coordination and integration of the center in the past years, by providing accurate climate data and advanced numerical models, supporting decision -making and enabling the concerned authorities to perform their duties with high effectiveness, especially in light of the climatic changes witnessed by the Kingdom and the region.

Air expectations

It is noteworthy that the National Meteorological Center works continuously to develop its services provided in the Holy Places, by expanding the monitoring network, increasing the number of stations and radars, and enhancing the capabilities of immediate analysis and weather forecasts, in compliance with the provisions of Article Four of the Meteorological System, which obliges development and service projects to obtain the necessary climatic information before implementation.
