The start of the third semester and distance learning support the quality of study plans and the well-being of students

Abu Dhabi, March 23 / WAM / The third semester began today in the country’s schools with the implementation of the distance learning system, which provides a safe and supportive educational environment that enhances students’ well-being and interaction.
The Ministry of Education circulated to school administrations the distance learning guide for the third semester, which includes many objectives, principles and regulatory frameworks that ensure the continuity of learning for all students without interruption, in addition to organizing flexible and organized timetables that include appropriate educational activities, while promoting effective communication and continuous cooperation with parents.
During the period of implementing distance learning, the Ministry specified in the guide the number of weekly classes for each school stage, as 15 classes per week for kindergartens, 3 classes per day from Monday to Friday, and the duration of each class is 30 minutes.
At the level of the first cycle, “Grades 1 and 2,” the total weekly classes are 23 classes, with 5 classes per day from Monday to Thursday, and 3 classes on Friday, and the duration of each class is 35 minutes.
As for students in the third and fourth grades, the total number of weekly classes for them is 23, with 5 classes per day from Monday to Thursday, and 3 classes on Friday, and the duration of each class is 40 minutes.
There are 27 classes per week for students in the second cycle, with 6 classes per day from Monday to Thursday, and 3 classes on Friday, and the duration of each class is 40 minutes, while it amounts to 28 classes per week for the third cycle, with 6 classes per day from Monday to Thursday, and 4 classes on Friday, and the duration of each class is 40 minutes.
Schools began activating the system immediately after receiving instructions, informing students and parents of the start dates during the past days, and sharing the approved study schedules before implementation, which achieved an orderly and smooth transition to the distance learning mode.
The education model relies on an integrated mix that includes live virtual classes via digital platforms, and independent learning in which students carry out self-learning tasks, in addition to offline activities, in addition to providing recorded educational materials that allow students to refer to them at any time, in order to achieve a balance that supports student learning and limits periods of prolonged exposure to screens.
Schools effectively monitor students’ attendance and participation through organized mechanisms that include monitoring interaction in virtual classes, completion of tasks and assignments, and interaction via digital platforms, while maintaining accurate daily records, and continuous communication with parents to address any challenges that students may face.
In the assessment aspect, schools apply flexible and diverse assessment mechanisms that support monitoring the level of students’ understanding and enhance their progress, in accordance with approved policies, with a focus on formative and formal assessments to support student learning and measure their level of achievement.
For students of determination, schools are committed to ensuring that they continue to receive appropriate educational support during periods of distance learning, in a way that achieves the principle of inclusive education and meets their individual needs.
Schools are also committed to including practical and physical educational activities within the distance learning system, which contributes to enhancing student interaction and developing their applied skills, in addition to providing clear instructions or recorded educational materials that enable students to carry out activities safely at home.
Schools are also keen to monitor the quality of life and well-being of students during periods of distance learning, ensuring support for their physical and psychological health and enhancing their participation in the educational process.
