Abu Dhabi, April 23/ WAM/ The General Authority of Civil Aviation in the UAE issued approval of the design for the first hybrid helicopter landing in the country, at the cruise station in the port of Zayed in Abu Dhabi, as part of the “Air Force Taxi” project in Abu Dhabi.

According to a press release, today, the hybrid vertical landfill was developed in strategic cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, the Falcon Airlines Services, and the Artcher Aviation Company, which represents a step to transform towards integrated and sustainable air transport across the emirate.

The Hijini vertical landfill in the UAE is designed to accommodate both traditional helicopters and aircraft with takeoff and electrical vertical landing, such as the “Artcher Midnit” plane, which provides a multi -use model and suitable for the future in the field of urban mobility.

It was planned as part of the broader infrastructure network of Archer in the UAE, with the start of commercial operations for aircraft taxi with Abu Dhabi Air.

This first site was chosen because of its location at the marine flight station in the port of Zayed in Abu Dhabi, which is a leading center for the regional cruise industry, where it receives more than 650,000 visitors annually, and it is also a gateway to the most famous and entertainment destinations in the capital, which provides easy access to the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Culture District in Saadiyat.

The General Civil Aviation Authority has become the first civil aviation authority in the world, the development of organizational standards for hybrid infrastructure – a pioneering framework designed to support safe, integrated and effective operation for both helicopters and “EVTOL” from one platform.

After conducting extensive consultations with partners from the aviation sector, these proposed standards have become in the final stage, and are expected to be published in July 2025, which represents a big step towards integrating advanced air mobility smoothly into the environmental systems of the current aviation.

For his part, Aqeel Al -Zarouni, Assistant Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation – Aviation Safety Sector, said that by developing the first organizational standards for hybrid infrastructure in the world, the General Authority of Civil Aviation is putting the UAE at the forefront of global innovation in the aviation industry.

He added that this framework ensures that our infrastructure for air mobility is safe, effective and adaptable, which places the basis for a smooth integration for both helicopters and “EVTOL” aircraft from the next generation within a unified operating environment.
