Saudi Arabia ranks 15th globally in artificial intelligence research

Saudi Arabia ranked 15th in the world in the number of research publications on artificial intelligence for 2025, according to the global competitiveness index of artificial intelligence.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has emerged as a major player in the global scene of artificial intelligence research.

It depends on the evaluation of countries in the quantity and quality of their research in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as measuring other factors such as the number of publications about artificial intelligence and their impact on academic magazines.
The study analyzed about two million scientific research papers and patents related to artificial intelligence around the world, while the report was issued cooperatively between the International Financial Forum (IFF) and the Deep Knowledge Group (DKG).
The deep knowledge group is a leading global research center specializing in artificial intelligence and innovation research, with a focus on promoting progress in technology, health care and other strategic sectors.

The report highlights the remarkable contribution of Saudi Arabia through 29,639 leaflets in the field of artificial intelligence, which confirms the Kingdom’s growing position as a center for artificial intelligence research, with more than 823 publications on artificial intelligence per million people.
This achievement puts Saudi Arabia at the forefront of many leading countries in the field of artificial intelligence, such as the Netherlands, Singapore, Russia, Switzerland and Sweden.
As Saudi Arabia continues to focus on developing artificial intelligence technologies, this classification highlights the progress made by the Kingdom in strengthening a firm research environmental system.

According to the report, China has the largest number of research papers on artificial intelligence in the world through 769,000 publications, an increase of 696 % over the past ten years. Japan and South Korea have entered the first ten, indicating the contribution of East Asia to global artificial intelligence research.
