Air pollution increases .. An American organization warns of Trump lowering the employees of the Environment Agency

On Wednesday, an American environmental organization warned that the Trump administration’s intention to reduce the number of environmental protection agency employees means “more air pollution” throughout the United States.
It is expected that a potential layoff of hundreds of agency employees is expected to cancel its scientific arm on environmental issues, including pollution and climate change.
The American Lung Association indicated in its annual “Air Case” report that the reduction of the employees of the Environmental Protection Agency “will actually affect the health of people all over the country, and more reduction means more air pollution.”
Criticism of demobilization operations
The planned demobilization operations, which have not yet been decided, faced criticism last month by Democrats in Congress and scientists.
US President Donald Trump said in February that the director of the Environmental Protection Agency, Lee Zilden, is planning to lay off about 65% of the agency’s employees.
The American Lung Association confirmed that “organizations can not be simply canceled by issuing an executive order or a press release.”
The Environmental Protection Agency is currently employing more than 17,000 American federal employees, who numbered about two million, who have pledged Trump to reduce their number.
Supporting environmental protections procedures
During his election campaign, Trump pledged to curb environmental protections, specifically those related to climate change, justifying that it unnecessarily hinders economic growth.
The association warned that even in the years before Trump’s return to his post, 46% of Americans lived in “unhealthy levels” of air pollution.
A recent study that relied on the data data between 2021 and 2023 showed an increase in the number of people who “breathe unhealthy air” by about 25 million people, compared to a report issued a year ago.
The report pointed out that the sharp rises “in pollution of particles associated with severe heat, drought and forest fires puts millions of people at risk.”
