المملكة: Omani delegation see the Kingdom’s leading experience in sectarian roses cultivation

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture hosted an official delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, visiting the Kingdom with the aim of seeing the leading experiences in the cultivation and production of sectarian roses, and its manufacturing industries, which is one of the most prominent agricultural products that characterize Taif Governorate.
The Ministry stated that the visit of the Omani delegation comes in conjunction with the start of the first global forum for roses and aromatic plants, which is held in Taif Governorate in Makkah Al -Mukarramah Region.

Sectarian

The delegation program includes field visits to a number of rose farms; To learn about the methods used in traditional and modern agriculture, and ways to care for plants in various stages of its growth, from agriculture to harvest.
The delegation visits a number of rose distillation factories, to determine the stages of extracting essential oils and rose water, and the techniques used in processing and packing operations, as well as discussing the economic value of sectarian roses and opportunities to expand in export markets.
The Ministry stressed the importance of exchanging agricultural experiences between the two sides, strengthening brotherly relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, and enhancing their keenness to develop the agricultural sector, in light of successful experiences and common visions.

Cultivation and production of roses

She indicated that the Omani delegation expressed its admiration for the development it witnessed in the techniques of cultivation and production of rose, and valued the efforts of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in supporting farmers, and enhancing the sustainability of this vital sector in a way that serves sustainable agricultural development.
It is noteworthy that the sectarian rose sector in the Kingdom has achieved high economic returns, as direct investments for sectarian roses (135) million riyals within three years, and exported to the Gulf states and Europe.
During the year 2024 AD, the Kingdom produced more than (750) million rose, and aims to reach two billion rose by 2026 AD, and the total area planted with sectarian roses is 346 hectares, and sectarian roses are classified among the best (3) aromatic roses in the world.
