Session in "Abu Dhabi Book" It discusses the role of the Arab story in global cinema

Abu Dhabi, April 28/ WAM/ A dialogue session entitled “Fantasy, Orientalism, and Retaining Adventure”, held at the activities of the 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, highlighted the most prominent features of the Arab story in international cinema, to celebrate the book “One Thousand and One Nights”, which was chosen “World Book” for this year.
Mena Masoud, a Canadian representative, director and writer of Egyptian origin, said during his participation in the session moderated by Alia Al -Qamzi, Executive Director of Development at “Image Nation Abu Dhabi”, that the absence of Arab models in Hollywood strengthened his sense of responsibility to represent Arab stories in international cinema, considering that the mastery of the Arabic language was part of this return to the roots, especially after his participation in the movie “ 2021.
He talked about his experience in the Egyptian cinema, which gave him a broader artistic freedom compared to American cinema, and dealt with the challenges he faced to get rid of the American accent during his performance in the Arabic language, stressing the importance of preserving cultural identity and professional and humanitarian principles, indicating that the text is the decisive factor in his choice of business.
The session also dealt with Masoud’s various artistic experiences between drama and romance, and he talked about his experience in writing about the pattern of vegetarian life, indicating that he considers writing a space for self -expression more than an independent profession.
At the end of the session, Masoud announced his new project to launch a 12 -episode drama for the Middle East, which reflects the development of Arab dramatic production and supports the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center’s vision in promoting the presence of the Arabic language globally.
