“Eastern reads” .. the launch of the first guide to reading clubs in the Kingdom

In a qualitative and unprecedented step in the Kingdom, the Cordoba Association is preparing to read to launch the first comprehensive guide to reading clubs in the eastern region, under the slogan “Eastern Read”, to be a unified reference that documents all initiatives and authorities that are interested in reading and enhances their presence in the region.
The launch of this guide coincides with the International Book and Copyright Day, as part of a series of association’s initiatives aimed at spreading a culture of reading and activating the role of reading clubs in building a knowledge society.

Strategic orientation

This is the first evidence of its kind in the Kingdom, and it embodies the strategic direction of the association in organizing and documenting reading efforts in the eastern region, and supporting the interaction between readers, clubs and various cultural initiatives.
The director of the Cordoba Reading Association, Nawal Al -Dhawyan, explained at the beginning of her speech that the issuance of this guide represents a qualitative shift in the local cultural scene, as it contributes to enhancing coordination and complementarity between the authorities interested in reading, and gives readers a comprehensive window to see club activities and joining options.

Cultural initiatives

Al -Dhawyan said: “Reading is not only a hobby, but a way to build a conscious individual and the interlocutor society. Hence the idea of ​​evidence came, to serve as a bridge that links readers and cultural initiatives in the various cities and governorates of the eastern region.”
The launch of the guide was completed by organizing the “Adopting Books” campaign, which was hosted by the Culture House in Dammam, which had a clear role in the success of this event, and witnessed a remarkable presence that exceeded 300 beneficiaries within only four hours.

Book recycling

The campaign aimed to encourage reading and recycling books in an innovative style, believing from the association that the books deserve to live again and find those who take care of them, re -discover them and revive their meanings.
Where a corner for the classification of books has been allocated, through which the visitor chooses three books that he adopts, enveloped and delivered to him in an organized manner, in an experience that enhances the value of the book and strengthens the personal relationship between the reader and the book.
This campaign is one of several initiatives launched by the association, which aims to support readers and motivate the local community to interact with the book, within a sustainable framework that contributes to building a vibrant cultural environment in the eastern region.

Innovative quality programs

Al -Dhawyan concluded her speech by presenting the highest expressions of thanks and appreciation to the Administration of the Culture House in Dammam represented by its executive director, Mohamed Al -Qarni, who made all their efforts to make the event a success, and also stressed that the association is continuing to support the cultural scene with quality and innovative programs, establishing reading in daily life, and giving future generations a wide knowledge space that enhances the position of the book in the conscience of society.
