المملكة: The Kingdom highlights the efforts to develop digital structures at the UN Forum for Innovation

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority “Saya” participated in a working session within the activities of the United Nations Science, Technology and Innovation Forum for 2025 (STI Forum), which was held yesterday at the United Nations headquarters in New York, as part of the working day dedicated to the promotion of the “Global Digital Charter”, which is the first forum to be held after the adoption of the Charter in September 2024.
The forum – which is held annually under the auspices of the President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) – aims to launch a multilateral global dialogue to convert the obligations of the charter into practical measures that support sustainable development goals, especially through artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.

Global digital economy

The participation of “Sayya” in the working session entitled: “Data Management for Artificial Intelligence … Re -Victory of the Global Digital Economy”, and the session dealt with the role of data governance in building a fair and comprehensive digital economy, and focusing on benefiting from digital transformation and not being satisfied with the role of data providers.

During his participation in the session, the deputy head of the strategy office, Abdul Rahman Habib, explained the importance of enhancing the role of policies in data management as a strategic pillar of sustainable economic growth.

National competencies

He highlighted the efforts of “Sayya” in developing the organizational and legislative frameworks of data in the Kingdom, and building advanced digital infrastructure, in addition to enabling national competencies and accelerating innovation in the uses of artificial intelligence.
The participation of “Sayya” in this UN forum comes as part of its continuous efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s international presence in technical and scientific forums, and the counterpart of its active role in supporting the trends of the global digital charter, by contributing to the drawing of fair and comprehensive digital policies that focus on harnessing modern data and technologies to achieve sustainable development.
