Haifa Wehbe ignites the controversy again .. What is the story?

The announcement of the participation of the Lebanese artist Haifa Wehbe in the new movie “Kingdom”, along with the star Mustafa Shaban, through which he returns to the cinema after an absence of 12 years, sparked a wave of controversy and questions on social media, especially in light of the validity of the decision to stop her from singing in Egypt issued by the Syndicate of Musical Professions last March.

A number of pioneers of digital platforms asked about the legal extent of their participation in artwork, especially since the decision is still in effect, amid official silence from the concerned authorities.

In this context, the “Erm News” website quoted an official source within the Syndicate of Musical Professions as saying that the decision issued against Wahbi is limited to preventing it from singing inside Egypt, and does not include its acting activity, which is subject to the specialization of the Representative Professions Syndicate. The source added: “Haifa Wehbe is entitled to participate in dramatic or cinematic works, provided that no songs are presented within the work or his propaganda campaigns, in respect of the union’s decision.”

On the latest developments in the suspension decision, the source explained that the crisis is still in place, indicating that there are no developments or steps to solve it, stressing that the decision is valid until Wehbe complies with the investigation committee.

It is noteworthy that the decision to stop Wehbe from singing came based on a complaint filed by her former business manager, Khaled Al -Tohamy, after she failed to attend the investigation session set by the union, which led to a decision to stop her from singing.

In August 2024, the representative and musical unions have previously issued a joint decision to stop Wahbi from practicing any artistic activity in Egypt, against the background of violating items with contracts with a contract with a production company and a party contractor. However, the decision to suspend acting was later canceled after settling the dispute with the production company.

Wehbe’s return to acting in a “kingdom” returns to the interface again, amid anticipation of the course of the legal and technical crisis it faces in the Egyptian scene.
