Researchers in "New York Abu Dhabi" They develop a diagnostic tool for monitoring infectious diseases

Abu Dhabi, June 2/ WAM/ A team of scientists at New York University Abu Dhabi has developed a diagnostic tool made of paper, who can be used to monitor the Coffee-19 virus and other infectious diseases in less than 10 minutes, without the need for advanced laboratory equipment.

The slide team (RCP-CIP), at the Laboratory Laboratory and advanced miniature devices at New York University Abu Dhabi (AMMLAB), provides a fast, low-cost solution and a field examination of infectious diseases.

The tool was designed to discover the simplest effects of the viral genetic material in saliva samples, for easy collection, and without the need for surgical intervention, as the color change indicates the presence of the virus in question.

The chip works without electricity or special equipment, and it needs a moderate source of heat (about 65 ° C), i.e. about the heat of warm water.

The advanced sensors research magazine published the research in a paper entitled “The SIM cards with a single-layer thermal detection of the SR-Kofid genes”, and the research shows the stages of development and verification of the accuracy of the chip as a rapid and multiple diagnostic platform for infectious diseases, and its suitability for use in environments with limited resources.

Mohamed Qassima, associate professor in mechanical engineering and biomedics and the main author of the research, said that the slide has been designed to have a real impact in the world, and can be resets to monitor various infectious diseases, which makes it a promising tool in public health service around the world.

For its part, Pavra Sokomar, the assistance of research at the university and the participating author for the research, indicated that this test is fast and low cost and does not require laboratories, and monitors multiple genetic goals in less than 10 minutes, and this mobile test can greatly improve countries’ response to diseases in terms of speed of implementing stone procedures, treatment and control.
