A memorandum of understanding between the Abu Dhabi General Health Center and the Emirates Cancer Society

Abu Dhabi, June 3/ WAM/ The Abu Dhabi Public Health Center of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, and the Emirates Cancer Society signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of enhancing awareness about the disease in the emirate.

The signature of the memo comes in response to the increasing need to enhance sustainable societal awareness about the prevention of cancer, in light of the increasing risk factors associated with lifestyles and the delay in conducting tests, which leads to the diagnosis of the disease in advanced stages.

The signing ceremony of the memorandum was attended by His Excellency Dr. Rashid Al -Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi General Health Center, His Excellency Dr. Salem bin Rakad Al -Amri, Chairman of the Emirates Cancer Society, and Awad Salem Al -Saadi, Executive Director of the Association.

The memorandum aims to unify efforts between health and community agencies to build a long -term health awareness at the level of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and to enhance cooperation between the two parties by launching health awareness campaigns in schools, universities, hospitals, and various community sites, with a focus on consolidating the concepts of healthy lifestyles, which include proper nutrition, practice of physical activity, refrain from smoking, and supporting mental health, as well as procedure Preventive tests to spread the culture of early detection of cancer.

Dr. Salem bin Rakad emphasized that the message of the Emirates Cancer Society provides comprehensive support to patients and their families, enhancing efforts to prevent and early detection, support scientific research, and expand the scope of cooperation with partners in the government and private sectors, in a way that contributes to achieving common goals in combating cancer.

For his part, Dr. Rashid Obaid Al -Suwaidi said that our cooperation with the Emirates Cancer Society represents a pivotal step towards empowering society through awareness, enhancing early detection, and encouraging the adoption of healthy lifestyles and we look forward to consolidating the culture of prevention and pre -emptive care that contributes to reducing the risk of infection and enhancing early diagnosis opportunities.

In turn, Awad Salem Al -Saadi pointed out that the memo aims to facilitate the arrival of those who qualified for early detection checks to the necessary checks, and to launch joint initiatives during global occasions such as the International Cancer Day and the month of breast cancer awareness, in addition to continuing to support research and development efforts in the areas of public health and combating cancer.
