The UAE highlights the United Nations on its initiatives to improve the lives of people of determination

New York, June 11/ WAM/ The UAE mission to the United Nations, in cooperation with the Zayed Supreme Foundation for People of Determination, and the International Rehabilitation Organization, organized a side effectiveness entitled “Empowering Life through Comprehensive Curricula”, to highlight the initiatives concerned with improving the lives of people of determination, and overcoming obstacles that may transform or weaken ways to integrate them and active participation in national programs and plans, and move from the stage The intention to the stage of influencing and effective work for these goals.

This came in conjunction with the eighteenth session of the COSP-18th Conference on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP-18) at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

In the event, speakers recommended a number of important recommendations, most notably the call to explore successful initiatives that show effective funding for comprehensive programs for people with disabilities, which improves their access to health care and job opportunities (target 8 of sustainable development goals: decent work and economic growth).
They also recommended strengthening cooperation between the governmental and private sectors and NGOs, to develop sustainable and comprehensive policies that enhance the integration of persons with disabilities “target 10 of sustainable development goals: limiting inequality.”
They called for a focus on addressing disparities in health care and addressing the regular health obstacles facing groups with disabilities through community initiatives and comprehensive training for healthcare professionals “target 3 of sustainable development goals: good health and luxury”.
Finally, comprehensive policy recommendations have been developed, which contribute to protecting the rights of persons with disabilities, in a manner that ensures their integration and full participation in designing policies “the target 16 of sustainable development goals: peace, justice and strong institutions.”

In a message he addressed through the video during the event, His Excellency Abdullah Al -Humaidan, Secretary -General of the Zayed High Foundation for the owners of determination, highlighted the innovative ways to promote comprehensive education and employment of people with determination and the possibility of their arrival, indicating that the Foundation is considered an effective commitment, stressing that the time has come to work, based on equality, driven by innovation, and guided by the live experience Identity in the UAE.
He called for the necessity of ensuring that no one fails to kneel in the agenda, neither in politics, nor in practice, nor in available opportunities.
For his part, Christophe Gothenbronor, President of the International Rehabilitation Association, spoke about the role that his organization has played since its foundation in 1922 in the US state of “Ohio”, in the areas of strengthening partnership between the multi -stakeholders to enhance the agreement of the rights of persons with disabilities, noting that the integration of people of determination must be a societal approach aimed at enabling needy persons and giving them the opportunity to participate in full in Their societies, within the framework of three main goals.

He explained that these goals are to make high -quality rehabilitation services available at reasonable prices for every person in need to achieve optimal performance and interaction with his community, and to build comprehensive societies that guarantee full participation of all persons of determination in society on an equal footing with others, and respect for human rights without any exception, including implementing the full framework of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, to ensure that people of determination obtain health services, rehabilitation and comprehensive education Sports games, cultural, political, religious activities and other other societal activities, and also enhance their participation in equality with others, within the framework of the cooperation of four main groups of stakeholders, which are governments, civil society organizations, the private sector, and finally academic and research institutions.
For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Ismail Al -Kamali, Executive Director of the Sector of People of Determination at the Zayed Upper Foundation for People of Determination, spoke about enhancing comprehensive development of persons with disabilities, and reviewed a number of success stories and solutions achieved by the UAE in this aspect, pointing out that the UAE did not start from zero, but rather from a firm belief that the owners of determination possess great potential, provided that the community prepares the space that secures them.
He said that the Foundation has developed the first national professional qualification in the country dedicated to persons with disabilities, so that after more than 700 training hours, the graduates of them obtain official certificates, providing them with real opportunities in obtaining jobs or entrepreneurship, pointing out that the Foundation runs 23 centers throughout Abu Dhabi.
For her part, Mira Al Shamsi, a genetic genetics analyst at the International Rehabilitation Organization, on behalf of the Vice President of Health and Performance at the International Rehabilitation Organization, highlighted the ways to formulate a comprehensive health system and rehabilitation for persons with disabilities, by relying on the rooted approach in innovation and fairness, pointing out that there are about 15% of the world’s population live with disability, and more than a third of the world’s population in need of rehabilitation and rehabilitation. Most of them do not receive any rehabilitation.
She pointed out that the organization’s strategy supports individuals with disabilities throughout their lives, starting with their convergence through genetics and examination since their birth, and the policy of integrating treatment and rehabilitation, including medical medicine.

For his part, Dr. Madan Kondo, Vice President of the International Rehabilitation Organization, addressed ways to enhance the work and employment of people of determination in profitable and purposeful works that enhance their active involvement in development, according to Article 27 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, reviewing the most prominent major challenges causing high unemployment rates between persons with disabilities and their solutions.
For her part, Dr. Crisan Shero-Jayst, a professor and director of the Institute of Disability, at the University of Memphis, American, spoke about ways to empower young people with mental disabilities in moving to the stage of work and participating in their societies, reviewing the programs provided by American universities to teach people of determination and develop their job skills, to become adults and obtain appropriate jobs in their societies and the labor market.
The organizers of the Emirati event were keen to involve the experiences of citizens of the anxiety in the UAE, Ahmed Hazaa Al -Darmaki, the coach in the Al Ain Club for People of Determination, a member of the UAE hosting file for the twentieth conference of the International Federation of Deaf in Abu Dhabi in 2027, Maryam Al Qubaisi, Ambassador of “Multiple Sclerosis” and responsible for the comprehensive design program for inclusion.
Ahmed Hazza Al -Darmaki, in his speech to the attendees, said that as a deaf child, he started his educational journey at the Zayed Upper Foundation for the owners of determination, where he received support and care at an early stage, and obtained a scholarship to follow up his studies at the American School of Deaf in the United States, and obtained a diploma from the Connecticct Institute, where he spent nine years abroad, indulged in the sign language and deaf culture.
He added that he established the first football team for the deaf in the Emirates, and then the first official association for the deaf, which later became the first chairman of its board of directors, and through it he cooperated closely with the Ministry of Higher Education to support the integration of deaf students into universities, pointing to the contribution to the development of a dictionary of reference language in the UAE, and in 2006 he was honored by the state with the award for the best personal in appreciation of his efforts to empower the deaf.
He stated that he continues his path as a coach in Al Ain Club for the owners of determination, noting that he is currently working with the UAE hosting committee for the twentieth conference of the International Federation of Deaf in Abu Dhabi in 2027, describing the event as the world, and reflects the leadership of the state in inclusion and empowerment.
For her part, Maryam Al -Qubaisi, 29, said that she was diagnosed with sclerosis when she was seventeen years old, noting that although the disease changed the course of her life, she did not end her dreams but rather reconfigured her through her personal challenge to the disease, explaining that she became an ambassador for multiple sclerosis, to contribute to raising awareness, challenging the stigma, and helping to build a world led by a world.
Al -Qubaisi expressed her pride in her participation in this side event organized by the UAE at the United Nations headquarters in New York, which reflects the attention and serious steps that the state pursued in caring for this group.
The event program at the United Nations headquarters included the presentation of films that explain the purposeful policies pursued by the UAE to enhance the quality of the lives of people with determination and their practical participation in development, reviewing some successful models of a number of people of determination in their societies.

In an information paper distributed during the event, the participants pointed out that there are more than a billion people, or about 15% of the world’s disabled population, and requires meeting their needs, through organized scientific curricula.
The paper unanimously agreed on the necessity of strengthening policies and the volume of financing to achieve these goals, including enabling persons with disabilities to develop and implement comprehensive and sustainable social policies, pointing out that effective implementation in this regard, often stumbles due to the large global financing gap, which is estimated at more than 1.2 trillion dollars annually, which reflects the difference between policies and practices, and requires innovative financing mechanisms, such as social impact bonds Collective financing, in a way that helps in filling the lack of financing, and ensuring the launch of comprehensive programs for people with disabilities and its long -term preservation.
The event also highlighted the ways to enhance the integration of women with determination, especially as it still faces barriers that hinder their integration and full participation in their societies around the world, including their limited access to health care, their cultural marginalization, and the low opportunities for education and employment, which enhances its social exclusion, which requires recognition of these intertwined forms of marginalization and the formulation of strategies Reflecting this reality is effective and comprehensive.
The event also dealt with a number of reports and reflective tools for living experiences for individuals with disabilities, highlighting innovative cognitive services, especially in the Middle East and North Africa region that give priority to integrating people of determination.
