The Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Manan Al -Awar, explained that the decision to govern Higher Education for Citizen Students outside the state issued by the Council of Education and Human Development and Society, and not from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and its goal is not to not recognize the qualifications of students studying abroad, but in its content aims to govern the study of study outside the state.
Al -Awar, in his response to a parliamentary question directed by the council member, Dr. Adnan Hamad Al Hammadi, revealed “the decision not to recognize academic qualifications for citizens of citizens outside the state” about the presence of more than 2,600 male and female students studying in prestigious universities, scholars through federal and local authorities and studying in prestigious universities that qualify them to be Emirati competencies and cadres in the future, indicating that at the time that at the time The same is about 3 thousand male and female students who study abroad on their personal expenses, and the decision came to support them in ensuring a study qualification that gives them competition opportunities and through which he can serve themselves and their homeland.
He said: “46% of students studying at their expense are studying in only two universities, and it was found that these two universities took advantage of the status of these students and became commercial qualifications, reflecting their exploitation and manipulation of their future, which necessitated our intervention to protect them and their scientific and practical future”, in addition to that 25% of students study at their expense are studying in universities that are not classified internationally.
Al -Awar stressed that the decision to define the criteria for studying citizens abroad aims to organize and control the process of studying higher education for citizens of citizens outside the state. The decision includes setting mandatory criteria and controls to ensure the quality of education that Emirati students receive abroad, in addition to ensuring that the scientific qualifications they receive officially recognized and can be used within the country.
