Through an integrated national system led by the Emirates Metro Institute “EMI”, the UAE establishes its role as a trusted regional and global center in precision measurement sciences, in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of sustainable development, empowering national competencies, and enhancing the confidence of the international community in the Emirati quality infrastructure.

The importance of metropolitan is in particular in achieving social and economic justice, as the accurate measurement is the cornerstone of achieving justice in commercial and industrial transactions, as it effectively contributes to protecting consumer rights and ensuring fair competitiveness between products.

The advanced measurement systems also support the stability of markets and facilitate the movement of trade and ensure their integrity, which reflects positively on economic growth and enhances the confidence of investors, and the institute in turn contributes to the consolidation of these principles by providing a reliable system of measurements that support innovation and reduce waste of resources, and helps in developing products and improving their quality, in line with the sustainable development goals of the UAE.

According to data obtained by the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, from the Emirates Mitreation Institute .. The institute is currently working on implementing a group of advanced projects that aim to enhance the accuracy of measurements and develop the metric system in the country according to the highest international standards, as these projects include the establishment of specialized laboratories that serve vital sectors.

Among the most prominent of these projects are the “Laboratory, Size and Flowing Laboratory” project to support measurements in the industrial and commercial sectors, the “Electricity, Time and Frequency Laboratory” project to ensure the accuracy of energy, communications and military industries, and the project “Attrads and Zaea Laboratory” to serve the construction and precise engineering sectors.

In addition,; The institute intends to implement the “Thermome and Moisture Laboratory” project to support environmental and industrial applications, and the project “Power Laboratory, Pressure and torque” to ensure the accuracy of the measurements of construction sectors, oil and gas.

The institute explained that a feasibility study has been prepared to establish a laboratory in the field of chemical metrics, which in turn serves health, food and environmental sectors.

These projects reflect the institute’s commitment to provide an accurate scientific infrastructure for measurement, which contributes to enhancing confidence in the UAE market, and supports the state’s march towards a competitive economy based on innovation and knowledge, and through these projects the institute encourages attracting investments to build different industries and find a fair and safe commercial environment, and ensures compatibility with the highest international standards.

Since its foundation in 2011, the institute formed one of the vital pillars in building an integrated national system for specialized competencies in measurement science, as it has worked to attract experiences and qualify Emirati cadres through advanced training programs and knowledge partnerships, which enabled it to develop a group of Emirati youth who are able to lead national laboratories according to the highest quality and efficiency standards.

The state also strengthened this role by joining the Mitr Agreement in 2015, to become the National Institute for Mitrania, and the official representative of the state in the arrangements for mutual recognition of measurement and calibration capabilities within the ICRC Committee “CPIM MRA”.

Through active partnerships with the Gulf Assembly Organization for Metrology and other regional and international bodies, the institute contributed to the preparation of a group of specialists who occupy today active sites in the relevant organizations, in a direct reflection of international confidence in Emirati competencies.

In confirmation of the advanced position reached by the institute at the regional level, His Excellency Eng. Saeed Mohamed Al -Muhairi was recently elected head of the Metrology Council of the Institute of Standards and Metrology of Islamic countries, starting from January 2025 and for a period And support innovation and cooperation between member states according to the highest international standards.
