Saudi Arabia .. “Animal and Fisheries Development Program” directs the compass of investors towards the Greek experience

In the context of its ongoing efforts to support and empower local investors, and enhance the role of the private sector in developing livestock in Saudi Arabia, the national program for the development of the livestock and fish sector organized an official visit to the Republic of Greece, which included a number of Saudi investors, and the aim of the visit was to explore international cooperation opportunities and exchange experiences in the areas of sheep and goats.
This visit came in the context of the ongoing program seeking to open new horizons for Saudi investors by reviewing the leading global experiences, especially those related to the model projects that are concerned with raising lamb and goats. Where the Greek experience is a distinct example in the field of sustainable management, improving breeds, and adopting modern technologies in farm management.
During the visit, the Saudi delegation was briefed on the most prominent technical innovations applied in Greece, including digital solutions, sensor systems to monitor herd health and smart network systems connected to devices, and during the tour the latest artificial insemination means and techniques were identified and genetic improvement that have proven effective in promoting productive efficiency and improving breeding efficiency.
During this visit, the national program worked to transfer knowledge of successful international experiences in proportion to the local environment, which enhances the efficiency of the livestock sector in the Kingdom, and supports sustainable development goals, and in this context the program conducted a study on the possibilities of attracting and localizing Greek strains with higher productive efficiency, which is characterized by its high ability to adapt and high productivity, to enhance programs to improve local breeds and support the wealth sector Animal.
Within the framework of cooperation between the Kingdom and Greece, during the visit, experiences were exchanged on the methods of raising lamb and goats, and raised the efficiency of production, as the two sides focused on the participation of best practices in the herd administration, genetic improvement, genetic election programs and reproduction to increase the numbers of births with higher efficiency and less vulnerable to diseases, and it is expected that livestock breeders in the Kingdom will benefit from advanced experiences in this field to enhance local productivity and increase the return Economic of the sector.
Cooperation included other fields such as developing fodder systems and improving their quality, as the delegation was briefed on the methods of nutrition management in Greece and how to prepare balanced feed fixtures that meet the needs of sheep and food goats, which enhances the health and productivity of herds. This contributes to reducing production costs and ensuring the availability of feed supplies.
With regard to manufacturing industries, the goal of cooperation between the two sides is to develop industries associated with sheep products and goats, such as dairy, meat and wool.
Where it was worked to discuss ways to benefit the dairy sector in the Kingdom from Greek experience in manufacturing famous cheeses, as well as in meat preservation techniques in accordance with international standards, which enhances the competitiveness of national products in local and international markets.
The cooperation between the two sides also included the development of support services and technical solutions in the livestock sector, especially in the areas of veterinary services, epidemics programs, biotechnology, and cooperation also focused on the use of smart applications and artificial intelligence to improve farm management and general performance of the herd. It has also been done to improve marketing and logistical services to deliver products with high efficiency and quality.
This visit reflected the Kingdom’s keenness to take advantage of successful international experiences and enhance strategic partnerships to develop the livestock sector.
It is expected that the outputs of this visit will contribute to supporting local food security by increasing production, improving quality and providing job opportunities, which contributes to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
