"Sharjah Social" Organize a forum "Enough violence" To enhance children’s protection in digital space

Sharjah, on June 24 / WAM / The Department of Social Services in Sharjah organized, today, the “Enough Violence” forum, under the slogan “Together we protect their childhood in the digital space”, at the Al -Qasba Theater, with the participation of more than 150 specialists in the fields of childhood, education, digital protection and media, as well as representatives of local and international bodies and a number of parents and those interested in educational and technical affairs.
The organization of the forum comes within the framework of the efforts of the department aimed at enhancing societal awareness of the dangers of digital space on children, and highlighting the integrated institutional roles to protect them, by building a safe digital environment that supports the responsible and conscious use of technology.
Fatima Al Marzouqi, director of the Child Protection Center in the department, stressed during its opening speech that the forum represents a dialogue platform aimed at integrating institutional and societal efforts, in a way that contributes to the consolidation of the concepts of awareness and smart escort for children during their use of digital media, away from the logic of restriction and isolation.
The forum included two sessions, which discussed the most prominent digital and relevant digital and international challenges, as well as a review of national initiatives and advanced experiences in the areas of digital protection for children.
He spoke during the first session, which was titled “Digital Risks and Legislation for Child Protection”, Mohamed Abdel -Rahman Al -Shehhi, head of a prosecution in the Public Prosecution in Sharjah, stressing that the UAE has set an advanced legislative system to protect children from e -crimes, the most prominent of which is a decree of a federal law No. (34) of 2021 regarding the fight against rumors and cybercrime, stressing the importance of society’s awareness of the contents of the contents These laws and mechanisms of their application, and enhance the partnership between judicial, educational and media authorities to consolidate the concepts of digital security.
For his part, Saji Thomas, head of the Child Protection Department at the UNICEF – Gulf, explained that the promotion of child protection in the digital space requires comprehensive and sustainable approaches compatible with local peculiarities, calling for the creation of regional support networks and providing effective psychological response mechanisms for children and care providers.
Amna Al -Hosani, a major specialist at the Abu Dhabi Early Children’s Authority, also presented a presentation on the “Digital Welfare Charter for Children”, which is one of the most prominent national initiatives to protect children in the digital environment, noting that the charter is based on three main priorities for 2025 including: monitoring digital content, enhancing privacy protection, supporting innovation in designing a child -friendly digital products.
At the end of the forum, Fatima Al -Marzouki reviewed the experience of the department in the field of digital awareness, through the “safe digital life ambassadors” initiative, which aims to enable children to be an active part of spreading safe digital culture among their peers, stressing that this approach enhances children’s confidence in themselves and increases the effectiveness of educational messages in school and community environments.
It is noteworthy that the “Enough Violence” forum is one of the continuous awareness initiatives organized by the Social Services Department in Sharjah, in line with its vision to provide a safe and sustainable environment for childhood, in which legislative, institutional and societal roles are integrated to ensure the safety of children in all aspects of their lives, including the digital space.
