"Emirates Infrastructure and Housing" It discusses the development of traffic congestion policies

Dubai, July 7 / WAM / His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, stressed the importance of intensifying and unifying efforts at the national level in the fields of infrastructure and housing, in line with national ambitions, and enhances coordination of policies between the federal and local levels, in order to achieve the maximum integration between the concerned authorities, indicating that the advancement of the infrastructure system and the achievement of levels Advanced efficiency and sustainability is an essential pillar to consolidate the UAE’s position on the international scene.
This came during his presidency of the second periodic meeting of the year 2025 of the Emirates Council for Infrastructure and Housing, which was held in the Ministry’s office in Dubai, during which a group of projects and strategic initiatives aimed at developing the infrastructure sectors at the UAE level were reviewed.
The meeting was attended by members of the Council, who are His Excellency Matar Mohamed Al Tayer, General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Roads and Communications Authority, His Excellency Eng. Abdul Rahman Muhammad Abdullah Al -Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipality and Planning Department in the Emirate of Ajman, His Excellency Munther bin Shukr Al -Zaabi, Director General of the Municipal Department in the Emirate of Ras Al -Khaimah, His Excellency Muhammad Saeed Al -Dhanhani, Director of the Emiri Diwan in the Emirate of Fujairah, and His Excellency Youssef Jassim Al -Mansouri, Director of the Engineering Sector in the Municipal Department in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, and Virgin Al Mansouri, Director of the General Policies Department, Sustainability and the main planning in Al -Ittihad.
During the meeting, the developments of developing policies related to traffic congestion, aimed at gradually reducing vehicle growth, and enhancing road network efficiency through flexible traffic projects that support economic growth and reduce traffic congestion.
The meeting touched on the most prominent results of the national study to assess the effect of sea level rise on the coastal infrastructure of the UAE, stressing the importance of developing flexible and sustainable adaptation plans, reassessing transportation and exchange systems, and enhancing maintenance and early warning programs, ensuring the protection of lives and property and supports the state’s readiness for future climate changes.
The members were briefed on the “National Guide for Classification of Contractors” initiative, which aims to unify the classification standards at the local and federal levels, and to facilitate the practice of business between the emirates of the state, and the initiative is a pivotal step to enhance transparency, stimulate investment, and raise the efficiency of the construction sector, which amounted to about 150 billion dirhams in 2024.
It is noteworthy that the UAE Council for Infrastructure and Housing discussed, during the first periodic meeting of 2025, the most prominent developments related to infrastructure and housing projects, as well as future directions and development projects aimed at developing a sustainable urban environment that enhances the well -being of society, in addition to the challenges and opportunities available in promoting the sustainability of infrastructure projects and the development of the housing sector, in line with “the vision of the Emirates 2031 “aimed at building an advanced and sustainable society.
