Dubai, July 13 / WAM / Dubai Roads and Communications Authority has established a contract to develop the future street, which extends from its intersection with Qasr Zabeel Street, to the Financial Center Street, at a cost of 633 million dirhams.
The project includes the implementation of bridges and tunnels with a length of 1700 meters, and increasing the number of street paths from three tracks to four paths in each direction, to contribute to increasing the capacity of the street by 33%, from 6,600 vehicles per hour to 8,800 vehicles per hour in both directions, and reducing the flight time from 13 minutes to 6 minutes.
His Excellency Matar Al -Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, said that the development of the Future Street is part of a project that also includes the development of the commercial center roundabout, which has started implementation in the last quarter of last year, noting that the project serves many commercial, residential and developmental areas, the most important of which is the Dubai World Trade Center, which is the largest site for international events and exhibitions in more than forty years, and hosts international exhibitions and conferences, the Dubai International Financial Center allowance, which is a center A pioneer financially in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, and serves the areas of Zabeel, the city center and the Business Bay, and the number of its beneficiaries is estimated at half a million residents and a visitor.
Al -Tayer explained that the project includes the implementation of three tunnels with a length of 1200 meters at the intersection of the Future Street with the Commercial Center Street, the first on the future street towards Deira consisting of three tracks, with a capacity of 4,500 vehicles per hour, and the second from the future street turns to the left towards the Commercial Center Street, and serves the traffic in both directions for the Deira and Jabal Ali area, which is made up of two tracks, and its capacity is 3000 vehicles per hour in both directions, either. The third, it consists of one path, serves the One Central project, with a capacity of 1500 vehicles per hour.
He pointed out that the project also includes the implementation of a bridge with a length of 450 meters, and with a capacity of two tracks that serves the traffic coming from the Dubai World Trade Center, towards the intersection of Qasr Zabeel Street with Al -Mustaqbal Street, in addition to expanding the future street from its intersection with the Financial Center Street until its intersection with the Qasr Zabeel Street, with a length Both Exhibition Street and the Commercial Center Street, the establishment of a pedestrian bridge on Sukuk Street, and the development of the intersections based on it.
The project also includes adding the creative and aesthetic component to the region, by creating pedestrians developed and a pathway for bicycles and cosmetic lighting, to ensure safer and easy ways for all, and the establishment of urban spaces to enhance societal communication and provide vital and comprehensive urban environments, and enhance the connection of development areas with metro stations in the region to achieve integrated and smooth access to the residents and visitors of that region.
His Excellency added that this project integrates with the plan to develop the commercial center’s roundabout, which is one of the most important intersections in Dubai, where Sheikh Zayed Street links five vital streets: Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid Street, the second of December Street, Qasr Zabeel Street, and Future Street, and this development includes the implementation of five bridges with a length of 5000 meters, and turning the current roundabout into a superficial intersection to enhance the flow of traffic coming from Sheikh Zayed towards the second street of December, and from the future of the future towards Sheikh Zayed Street in the south, in addition to providing a free traffic movement from the second street from December to Al -Majlis Street, and from it to Sheikh Rashid Street towards Deira, as well as a bridge at the second level that provides a free movement from Sheikh Zayed Street towards Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street.
It should be noted that the implementation of the projects of developing the Trade Center and Future Street, coinciding with another project to develop roads in the region, where the authority began in the last quarter of 2024, the project to develop the Oud Metha and Asayel streets, which includes the development of four main intersections, by implementing bridges of 4300 meters, and roads of 14 km, and the project serves service, residential and developmental areas, which are expected to reach a population of more than 420 thousand Nessma in 2030, and contributes to reducing the flight time from 20 minutes, to 10 minutes, with an improvement rate of 50%, as the project coincides with the completion of the stages of the Al Khail Street development project, which included the implementation of bridges of 3300 meters, and the development and expansion of road paths with a length 19600 vehicles per hour.
