The European Union is attributed to the imposition of customs duties on American goods

Brussels, July 13/ WAM/ The European Union postponed the imposition of customs duties on goods imported from the United States until the beginning of next August, despite Washington’s decision to impose customs duties by 30% on the products received from the European bloc.

Ursula von der Line, head of the European Commission, revealed in this regard that the United States sent a letter that includes the procedures that will enter into force unless a solution is reached through the negotiations and said that for this we will extend the period of suspending our counter -procedures until the beginning of next August.

The von Yer Line advertisement comes after US President Donald Trump said yesterday, Saturday, that he will impose 30% fees on imports from the European Union starting from the first of next August, despite the ongoing negotiations.

The German News Agency quoted von der Line as saying that the European Union will not stand idle and that the commission will continue to prepare for more counter -procedures in the coming weeks.

According to previous information issued by the European Union, the counter -measures planned by the bloc would affect US exports with a total value of 21 billion euros (24.5 billion dollars).

The European Union trade ministers in Brussels will meet tomorrow, “Monday”, to discuss the following steps in the wake of the recent shift in Trump’s position during the beginning of the week.

It is still unclear whether the ministers will support von der Line’s decision to suspend the imposition of counter -procedures, to make way for the continuation of negotiations until the deadline set on the first of August.
