Sharjah, March 16 / WAM / The House of Wisdom in Sharjah has brought down the curtain on the exhibition “The Dice Player: Mahmoud Darwish”.

After a rich cultural trip that lasted four months, an exceptional attendance exceeded 25 thousand visitors of various nationalities and age groups, in addition to an elite group of researchers, writers, and poets interested in the heritage of the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.

As an extension of this remarkable presence and the wide cultural and media resonance achieved by the exhibition, House of Wisdom signed an agreement with the Palestinian Museum, the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, and the Barjeel Arts Foundation, to transform the exhibition into a “travelling exhibition” that travels around the world from the Emirate of Sharjah and is available to cultural institutions wishing to host it, whether fully or partially, creating an unprecedented opportunity to enhance the presence of Mahmoud Darwish’s literary and humanitarian legacy in multiple cultural spaces, and to consolidate its position. As one of the most prominent poetic voices that shaped Arab cultural awareness and touched the conscience of humanity.

Marwa Al Aqroubi, Executive Director of the House of Wisdom and the main curator of the exhibition, said that the Dice Player Exhibition embodied Sharjah’s vision of celebrating the symbols of Arab culture and re-presenting their creative legacy to new generations. We at the House of Wisdom succeeded in transforming this celebration into a cultural project extending from Sharjah to various parts of the world, and we are proud to sign an agreement to transform the exhibition into an internationally mobile cultural experience, which contributes to the continuation of this successful idea and its transfer to various destinations around the world.

She added that the large turnout witnessed by the exhibition was a reflection of the public’s confidence in the cultural projects led by Sharjah and the House of Wisdom, and confirms the ability of Arab culture to attract a wide audience when presented with a contemporary and open vision.

For his part, Amer Shomali, Director General of the Palestinian Museum, said that this step opens a new window for Mahmoud Darwish’s works and documents to reach an audience that has not had the opportunity to view them before, within a presentation that takes into account the integrity of the content and the status of the text.

In turn, Laila Abbas, Director of the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah, said that this cooperation with the House of Wisdom gains its importance from its ability to expand the scope of examining the experience of Mahmoud Darwish, which opens a new discussion about poetry, memory, and truth, to be a step in supporting the Palestinian cause, and enhancing the presence of its voice throughout the world.

The exhibition’s activities were launched on November 12, 2025, under the patronage and presence of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), and highlighted the poetic and humanitarian experience of the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, starting from his roots in the village of Al-Birwa, all the way to his established presence in Arab and international cultural memory.
