Federal Taxes: 3.2 billion dirhams tax amounts that citizens recovered from building their homes until June

The authority revealed in a press statement today that the cumulative total of applications approved for citizens and citizens who recovered the added tax that they paid for the construction of their newly constructed housing from the start of the service of the service before it reached about 8 years until the end of June 2025 amounted to about 38 thousand requests, with a total value of 3.2 billion dirhams.
This number represents a noticeable increase compared to the end of June 2024, when the total cumulative requests reached about 31 thousand requests worth 2.54 billion dirhams, an increase of 22.74% in the number of approved applications and 25.72% in the value of the amounts recovered within 12 months.
The authority explained that the number of applications approved to recover the value -added tax on building new citizens’ housing during the period from the end of June 2024 to the end of June 2025 amounted to more than 7,000 requests, with a total value of 653.1 million dirhams, of which 3,097 new requests during the first half of 2025 only, with a value of recovered amounts amounting to 284.77 million dirhams.
She pointed out that the digital system for the tax return for tourists witnessed a significant expansion, as the increase in the number of retail stores linked electronically continued to the system in all emirates of the country, and the number of sales outlets registered with the authority linked to the system increased to 18.41 thousand stores by the end of June 2025 compared to 17.72 thousand stores by the end of 2024 and about 17.08 thousand stores by the end of June 2024.
She pointed out that the number of sales outlets that were associated with the system during the first six months of this year amounted to 697 commercial outlets compared to 540 outlets associated with the system during the same period of 2024, an increase of more than 29%, to be the total number of sales outlets that joined the digital system to return the tax for tourists during the past two years and the first half of this year 3,390 outlets.
She noted that the number of self -service devices devoted to returning the tax for tourists when they leave the state is completely automatically in approximately two minutes for each transaction of 96 devices by the end of June 2025, and are spread in commercial centers, hotels and state leaving outlets.
His Excellency Khaled Ali Al -Bustani, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, said that these indicators reflect the continuity of development and modernization of digital systems in accordance with best practices, in line with the state strategy for digital transformation, noting that the tax recovery service for building new housing for citizens and the tax return service for tourists has witnessed operations that witnessed a successive update to simplify and accelerate recovery procedures, most notably the application of the “smart residence” that It provides more facilities to recover citizens for tax, and depends on non -paper procedures with completely digital mechanisms by 100%.
Al -Bustani added: “Within its efforts to develop digital services, the authority launched last December the first system in the world to return the value -added tax for tourists on their purchases through e -commerce during their period in the UAE in a way that supports the leadership of the UAE in all sectors, including the tourism sector and the e -commerce sector, in order to complete what has been achieved in this field.”
He pointed out that the authority launched more than two years ago the digital system to return the tax for tourists, which depends on non -paper procedures with complete digital mechanisms by 100% and is witnessing a continuous update, and provides a digital platform that allows tourists quite easily to erase their passports and complete the purchase, and to share their transactions automatically in the form of digital bills, and verify their bills through the shopping gate to obtain a shopping experience Smooth restoring the paid taxable tax on their purchases with a full and digital mechanism.
He stressed that during the next stage, the authority will continue to launch and implement various projects and initiatives in the field of digital transformation in the tax sector to keep pace with the government’s strategy for the smart transformation of all services based on smooth and proactive digital procedures, in order to support efforts to whose bureaucracy and maintain high levels to delight the customers.
