The start of the ninth session of the Al Dhaid Festival of Wet

Sharjah on July 24 / WAM / The activities of the ninth session of the “Al Dhaid Festival of Wet” organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry were launched at the Expo Al Dhaid Center until July 27, with the participation of senior palm farmers and wet producers from different emirates of the country, and more than 15 agricultural companies in addition to a remarkable presence of a number of governmental and private agencies concerned with the agricultural sector and productive families.
The opening was attended by His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al -Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, His Excellency Muhammad Saeed Al -Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Food Diversity, His Excellency Salem Ali Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Municipal Council for the city of Sharjah, and a number of members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, His Excellency Muhammad Ahmed Amin Al -Awadi, Director General of the Chamber, His Excellency Sultan Al Shamsi, Director of the National Agricultural Center, The festival, heads of municipal councils in the central and eastern region, and a number of managers, officials and representatives of the participating government agencies.
The attendees toured the corridors of the festival, where they got acquainted with a wide range of wet and fruits offered, and met a number of farmers and participants.
The opening of the festival included honoring the participating government agencies and the winners of the first and second day competitions of the festival.
The events continued in the evening period with a group of heritage competitions and recreational activities.
His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al -Owais stressed that the festival has succeeded over nine years in consolidating its position as a heritage beacon and a vital economic platform that supports hundreds of farmers in the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE, which enhances the efforts of the Sharjah Chamber to pay attention to the agricultural sector and provide a competitive environment that motivates farmers to enhance the quality of their products through the annual meeting on the festival.
His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al -Nuaimi affirmed that the Al Dhaid Festival of Wet is one of the national models that support the state’s directions, in achieving food security and enhancing the sustainability of agricultural systems, by empowering farmers and enhancing their ability to adopt smart agriculture technologies and sustainable practices, noting the importance of investing in local agriculture, especially with regard to palm cultivation, which constitute an environmental, economic and cultural pillar of the UAE.
Mohamed Musabeh Al -Tunaiji stressed that the festival represents a link between farmers and investors through the opportunities it provides for both parties for acquaintance and building fruitful partnerships, where investors in the festival find an opportunity to discover promising talents and projects, as well as the success of the festival in attracting youth and attracting the interest of new generations for the palm cultivation sector, especially through competitions and interactive workshops that define the new generation of the importance of this sector And its future capabilities, in addition to the tourist impact of the event and its role in the flow of visitors on the city of Al Dhaid, which makes it an important economic engine for the region to enhance Al Dhaid’s position on the agricultural and tourism map.
The festival is witnessing the organization of a variety of competitions that have been allocated for valuable prizes, and covering the main wet muddles categories such as Al -Khunaizi, Al -Khalas, and Al -Shishai, along with the two distinguished elite categories, which are the “public elite of Al -Dhid” open to all the participants, and the “special elite of Al -Dhaid” for the Northern Emirates farmers, during which farmers are keen to provide the best of their farms.
The competition extends to include specialized competitions designed for various segments of society.
The accurate organization of the festival competitions comes to enhance the “Bechara Al -Qaid” initiative, a competition launched by the Chamber for the first time this year.
The festival provides its visitors, the finest types of wet, and the event also embraces a program full of accompanying events.
The accompanying activities continue throughout the festival days to include a dialogue session that will be held tomorrow, “The Dialogue of Generations for Sustainable Tomorrow”, and a lecture on wet harvest and dates on tomorrow and on the closing day, the festival visitors will be on a date with a seminar on the experiences of successful farmers.
The festival provides for its visitors daily an integrated experience that combines authentic heritage competitions, economic activities and awareness programs.
