Dubai, July 27 / WAM / Karate sport in the UAE continues to achieve successes at various levels, after it has become an inspiring model for a sustainable sporting development, which started from the constituent steps to the podiums of the coronation in regional, continental and international championships, amid an influential presence of UAE officials in the committees and positions of international and Asian federations, West Asia and Arab, and a remarkable organization of the most prominent global and international events.
The karate march was launched in the country since the 1970s, and gradually developed until the establishment of the Emirates Judo, Taekwondo and Karate Association in 1990, and included 3 sports, Judo, Taekwondo and Karate, and then its name officially changed in 1993 to the Emirates Judo, Taekwondo and Karate Federation, before it was separated by the Judo and Taekwondo sports in succession in the years 2003 and 2016 and turned into Emirates Karate Federation starting in 2016.
Since then, the Federation has adopted a comprehensive strategy to spread the game in clubs and educational and police institutions, and to work to prepare qualified technical and administrative cadres, which contributed to expanding the base of practitioners and upgrading the technical level of national teams.
The Federation is organizing a number of annual local championships, the most prominent of which is the Karate Clubs League, the His Highness the President of the State, and the Federation Cup, in addition to the championships of the Sunni groups of individual and teams, which are major platforms for discovering and refining talents that are characterized by professional organization and the use of the latest electronic arbitration technologies approved by the International Karate Federation.
On the level of international organization, the UAE has established its position as a preferred destination to host the major championships, including the Asia Men and Women Championship, the World Championship, the World Karate League “Primerlig”, and the World Youth League “Yath Lij”, along with many arbitration and technical courses, which strengthened the state’s position as a distinguished global karate center.
The UAE is one of the distinguished countries in the sport of karate, as its players won many continental and international medals, the most prominent of which is the first gold medal in the history of the country with individual women’s competitions 61 kg in 2021, which was scored by the player Sarah Al -Amiri, as well as remarkable achievements at the level of youth and young people.
The confidence of the global sports community is highlighted by the Emirati competencies and its ability to contribute to the development of the karate game through the leadership positions of the UAE federation in the Asian and international federations, and the technical and organizational committees.
Local clubs play a pivotal role in supporting the game, by adopting teams for different age groups, and providing advanced training programs under the supervision of specialized trainers; Among the most prominent active clubs are: Sharjah Sports Club, Al -Ahly Youth Club, Kalba Club, Al Dhaid Club, Sharjah Sports Club for Women, Fujairah Martial Arts Club, and other sports institutions that supply national teams with talents.
Within its future plans, the Emirates Karate Federation places three major priorities, which are to develop training and arbitration cadres, expand the practice base in cooperation with schools and universities, and enhance international participation of players in elite championships, with early preparation to participate in the upcoming Asian Games with the aim of achieving new achievements.
