The conclusion of the fourth international festival of Mauritanian dates 2025

Nouakchott on July 28/ WAM/ The activities of the fourth international festival of Mauritanian dates, which were held over a period of 3 days in the city of Kaifa, the capital of the gang state in Mauritania, were concluded yesterday, under the patronage of His Excellency Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al -Ghazwani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and with the support of the presidential office in the state.
The festival included 62 wings and 72 exhibitors from 9 countries producing dates, namely the Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Turkey, Ethiopia, Pakistan and Mexico, along with Mauritania.
The General Secretariat of the Khalifa International Prize for Dates and Agricultural Innovation, the festival, in cooperation with the Mauritanian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, in coordination with a number of regional and international organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Center for Research in Dry Regions (ICARDA), the International Center for Salt Agriculture (ICBA), the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), the Arab Center for Agricultural Research in Dry regions and Arriving Land (ACSAD), the Union of Agricultural Research Centers in the Middle East and North Africa (Aarinena), the International Network for the Development of Palm Agriculture and Dates Production in the Middle East and North Africa (IDPGN), the International Class Class Network (MIN), and the Society of Palm Friends of the Emirates (DPFS).
The opening ceremony was witnessed by His Excellency Professor Moum Ould Bibahah, Minister of Agriculture and Mauritanian Food Sovereignty, who confirmed that the festival has become a platform for international cooperation and an economic lever for small producers, praising the partnership and fruitful cooperation it reflects between Mauritania and the UAE, thanks to the joint development vision sponsored by the wise leadership of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al -Ghazwani and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “May God protect him.”
The ceremony was also witnessed by His Excellency Sayyida Zainab Ahmedna, the Mauritanian Minister of Trade and Tourism, His Excellency Mr. Al -Hussein Madaw, Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with the Mauritanian Parliament, His Excellency Hamad Ghanem Hamad Al -Muhairi, Ambassador of the UAE to the Islamic Republic of Mauritanian, and His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdel Wahab Al -Bukhari Zayd, Secretary General of the Khalifa International Prize for Dates and Agricultural Innovation, affiliated to the Zayed Humanitarian Foundation – The Presidency Court, Mr. Ahmadou Enahahi, his dangerous, the governor of the gang governorate, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Al -Habib, head of the gang region, Mr. Jamal Kaboud, mayor of Kaifa, and a number of members of the diplomatic corps in Mauritania, and a large crowd of experts, researchers, specialists and dates producers.
His Excellency Al -Muhairi praised the distinguished bilateral relations that link the UAE to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, stressing that this festival reflects the depth of these relations, and embodies the vision of the leadership of the UAE’s rational leadership in supporting agricultural development initiatives, foremost of which is palm cultivation because of its economic, nutritional and environmental value.
For his part, Dr. Abdel -Wahab Al -Bukhari said that organizing this festival in its fourth session confirms the international status and credibility achieved by the award, and its vital role in building international partnerships for the development and development of the palm cultivation sector and the production of dates and its advancement at the national, regional and international levels, thanks to the support that the award enjoys from the leadership of the UAE rational, and the follow -up of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Corring Prize Board of Trustees.
He pointed out that this success comes as a continuation of the series of international festivals organized by the award in Abu Dhabi (14 courses), Egypt (8 courses), Jordan (7 courses), Mexico (4 courses), and Pakistan (two sessions), in cooperation with the strategic partners in the relevant ministries in each country.
He stressed that the partnership between the General Secretariat of the award and the Ministry of Agriculture and Mauritanian Food Sovereignty and coordination with a number of regional and international organizations aims to upgrade the palm sector and support and revitalize the dates industry in Mauritania, noting that the festival reflects the pioneering role of the UAE in supporting the date palm sector and all projects aimed at developing, developing agriculture, production and marketing dates.
His Excellency Nations Ould Pephtah, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, with senior personalities, also witnessed the honoring of the winners of the Mauritanian dates competition in its fourth session, in which 150 farmers from various Mauritanian states participated, and each winner won an amount of (39,000) Mauritanian ounces equivalent to 1,000 dollars, and the Mauritanian Ministry of Agriculture decided to grant an additional prize at the same value for each winner to encourage them.
In an important gesture to support the farmers, the prize’s general secretariat presented 1000 seedlings of the date palm of the “unknown” class, which was delivered at a special ceremony in Nouakchott last Thursday, where His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture and Mauritanian Food Excellency expressed his appreciation for the continuous support of the United Arab Emirates.
On the scientific level, a scientific symposium accompanying the festival was launched, with the participation of 17 experts from 6 countries, who discussed within four main axes ways to fight the red palm weevil, best agricultural practices, post -harvesting transactions, and international trade.
Dr. Abdel -Wahab Al -Bukhari, Zif, stressed, during the symposium, that the scientific symposium accompanying the fourth international festival of Mauritanian dates is considered a corner stone for the supply of palm transplantation sector and the production of dates in Mauritania with scientific research, experiences and practical experiences according to the best national, regional and international practices.
